Look into the possibility that the battery may be defective or it was not new when purchased :-k

Anyway Nuvi 880 battery is easy to change as it is housed in a compartment and shape is similar to those Nokia phone batteries ...

Me same assumption, too. Thk goodness tis model dun need to dismantle entire back-cover for replacement. Is it safe get similar batt iso OEM?? I just need to ensure it's 3.7V/1150mAh, right!!

"voltage" and "physical size" must be same.

"current" capacity same or higher

I am new to the forum.

I am about to replace a battery in a Nuvi 255W I use for geocaching and was thinking of adding a second battery (externally mounted) in parallel to allow extended capacity.

I have noticed in pictures of the battery replacement procedure there are 3 wires from the battery (red, black and green). I assume the green wire is for the temperature tap from the battery and wonder if this is necessary? Has anyone done anything similar? Thank you for any advice.

For one and a half year my Nuvi 300 runs on a Nokia battery from my old phone without any problem. The battery finally died and needs replacement again. This time I bought a new BL-5C with a 1020mAH capacity. This is higher capacity than the 890mAH from the original and it can power the Nuvi 300 to more than 3 hours of navigation on a full charge.

The new battery all wired up and ready for installation.

Caution:- Test the new battery charging/discharging characteristics before housing it into the GPS... Li-Ion batteries are know to explode when defective.
