We are starting anew so I appreciate any suggestion or opinion, especially from the councillors and moderators of Malsingmaps

Can incorporate a "Shout Box" here for ppl to let go some steam. Short sentences, usually for such boxes.

Perhaps, a clear "tagline", "mission statement" and "map licensing direction" would be a good differentiator for MFM, up high on home page and in headers. I suspect that would have emphasis on the "Free" in MFM.

As example below are those for OSM, where their differentiator is their maps can be reused in other projects in "creative, productive or unexpected ways", with just a mention of the original creator ...

• Tagline - "The Free Wiki World Map" - part of the logo on all its map pages
• Mission statement - "OpenStreetMap creates and provides free geographic data such as street maps to anyone who wants them. The project was started because most maps you think of as free actually have legal or technical restrictions on their use, holding back people from using them in creative, productive, or unexpected ways." - first para of its main help/wiki page
• Map licensing direction - "Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 license." described as "What this means to you (and this isn't legal advice) is basically you can do what you like with the data, so long as you mention the original creator and anyone else can do the same with anything you produce." - footer of all its help/wiki pages
