my 1460 behaved "abnormally" this morning... or was it supposed to be like that?

usually, unit will "stop" navigating after loosing satellite signal shortly after i enter KPE (from PIE towards ECP). this morning, it didn't stop but instead continue to "travel" at the last recorded speed before it lost signal. i entered the tunnel at 81km/h and then slowed to speed limit of 70km/h when inside. the unit continued to navigate at 81km/h (as if in simulation mode) and went "ahead" of my real position inside the tunnel. position shown on screen was already somewhere along ECP when i was just coming out of the tunnel. after a while, satellite fix was regained, navigation resumed/recalculated showing my new/updated position.

only difference i can think of (compared to other days) is that i was using the TMC cable for traffic info.

anyone encountered this as well?

It is a feature being able to continue to provide navigation in tunnels.

Read about it in MSM via this link : http://www.malsingmaps.com/forums/viewt ... =9&t=20619

I have reverted mine back to V2.6. This is the version when I bought this unit a few months ago. It is fine without any problems although it is a little bit slow to recalculate a new route....

Is gmapsupp1.img still recognized? If so, should it be in Nuvi /system or mSD/garmin..? or does it matter at all which..?

Would appreciate advise if I'm missing anything, but it looks like it's best (at least, for me and the less initiated amongst us) to leave Nuvi /system directory as untouched as is practical and put EVERY other img into a mega-mSD /MAP directory. Hi-cap mSDs are now relatively affordable and I believe Jason essentially did just that for his 1460T. Unfortunately I got to see the wisdom of his strategy too late and only the hard way..!! Explains the kiasu nature of my questions above also ..

Few days ago, I managed to very convincingly brick a one-day old US ver 1490LMT - probably by leaving 2 different versions of MFM img in the Main Memory /MAP directory and proceeded to reboot the Nuvi. So now very, very nervous about setting up the /MAP in main memory again. Am now eagerly looking forward to threatening that dead Nuvi's replacement (shipped by AMAZON as we speak) as soon as I get my hands on it any day now.

Only hitch I can think still having to deal with is that unused Nuvi memory is reported as insufficent when trying to update the massive US-Canada NT Map for the US-specs 1490LMT - am required to selectively remove unneeded voice, txt and help files before running Webupdater.

Apologies if already answered somewhere above, but this valuable thread is really l-o-o-n-g and I must have have missed it.

Hi, I just updated the firmware from 2.7 to 2.8. Found lots of new voices in my voices folder like aussie karen and british daniel, but could not find it under languages. Anyway to get it in there?
