I installed the custom POIs in the SD card. After the unit boots up, a nag screen will appear with the words: "New Extras data found on card. Would you like to install this data........" I chose no.
Is there a way to disable this annoyance from reappearing every time the unit is used. Any advice/suggestion?
Many thanks in advance.

When you install new data into Nuvi, it will ask you. You should say "Yes"
Re: 1460 Nag screen
Tq. But what happens if the data is subsequently updated and I click yes again. Will the updated data overwrite the old one.
Many thanks again.

Isn't it logical that new data supersedes old data and if you want old data, you archive it ( back up ) ?
"waiting for better accuracy" - Garmin Nuvi 1460
Hello there,
My brother in law who just bought a garmin nuvi 1460, tried using it for the first time yesterday. Upon selecting the destination on the GPS, the device then showed "waiting for better accuracy" and this went on for a long time without starting the journey. He also rebooted the device and tried again, but still with the same result.
Does anyone know what is the cause for this problem? Much appreciated for any advice and help. Thank you.

This error indicates that the GPS satellite signal is weak thus the position computation of your position approximation covers a wider area. Move to a position that see more of the clear blue sky ...

I see. Will take note of your point. I suppose the device could have been affected by the rainy weather yesterday evening as well.
Thank you very much.

Re: Garmin Nuvi 1450 / 1460
I have just bought myself a Nuvi 1450 and it works perfectly for short distances.
However, once I head towards Malaysia, my 1450 will shut down suddenly in the midst of the journey. It happened 2 weeks ago after a 2 hour plus journey from Singapore towards KL and it happened again today after a mere 45 minutes of usage.
Is this the GPS overheating from direct sunlight on the screen suction mount?
Or is my unit a lemon?

Which map were you using when the unit shutdown?
Re: Garmin Nuvi 1450 / 1460
I was using the City Navigator 2010.3 that was installed by person I bought the unit from.
However, my map list included CN, MFM and MSM.
