Nuvi 300

I am trying to instal MFM v1.35 to a China Nuvi 300 with version 2.10 firmware but found the unit shutting off when zooming out. After zooming in to the max and zooming out the 14th times (hit - minus key 14 times) the unit just shutdown. If you stop at the 13th time and quickly hit the - minus key twice it will continue to zoom out. I suspect a certain zoom view is causing this problem. This is the same when doing address search. When View Map is selected it will display the map a short while (~1 sec) and shuts down. All other functions (address/POI search/routing) seems to be normal. What the Map View setting is at 'Most' the problem is more severe (only 7 times hitting the - key).

Anyone here have encountered this problem? Any help is very much appreciated. Gong Xi Fa Cai

P/S:- Only MSM v2.27 is running fine, the v2.30 is also having this problem.

Well whatever it has it is not routing too. After about 3-4 mins into the journey it just hang. My Nuvi 300 UK has no problem. Hope some members here can help to confirm.... Cheers!

Bro moeyhc, are you get con ? I just hearing my friend (IT importer) said that, in china now start doing pirate NUVI like Nokia handphone.

Thanks for the concern Bro fancheng. No worries about getting con as this set was bought in 2006. The only map that can run without problem is MSM v2.27. Any other later versions including MFM give the same problem. Hope someone here with the same model can confirm this strange happening... cheers!

my nuvi china oso encountered this problem. Ord feedback having this problem since MFM v 1.16. Even the latest MFM 1.36 oso auto shutdowns like u described. However I am using MSM2.30G without any problems.

My nuvi 300 China has the same exact version as urs. Bought around the same period. I think I met u once at E gate starbucks.

This China Nuvi 300 also cannot run MSM 2.30. Are you running the 2.30a or b or just 2.30? Did you load the generate Gmapsupp.img or directly using mapsource?

Just tested the China Nuvi 300 with the MSM 2.30b (auto generated during installation) and it is working. MFM 1.31 to 1.36 (auto gen or via mapsource) causes it to freeze and power off. Hope this gives some clue to its problem... cheers!
