Garmin searches POIs based on distance from a location. The default starting place is your current location. Based on the search criteria entered, Garmin will start searching among POIs nearest to you and extend the search until more than 500km away. If the POI is located too far away, say in another country, Garmin will not be able to return you the search result.
To search POIs with are too far away or to make search faster on slower phones, you can change the starting point of your POI search.
Work in progress...

For it to work the GPS must be OFF (antenna close - simulation mode only). I find this method much easier to search as I'm not too familiar with Cities name....cheers!

this one works for my Nuvi 765 ..
but when i do a spell check ...
For Example : like "King"
It give me result of "Kuala International Gourment Center"
Is it because Nuvi 765 got Tolerant setting ?

Re: How to search POIs far away from your current location
Which map have you installed and enabled (at Map Info)? And where is the current/last/default GPS location situated at? If the location is very far from the enabled map's coverage, POIs and its categories (of that map) will not show up. Thus, you need to simulate the location nearer to the map's coverage.
