Is a unlock code for a specific map.

you need to get it back from where you get the map from.

MFM map doesn't need *.unl to unlock it.

it could be for other maps that you have install that need *.unl.

There is another file called gmap3d.img
Apparently, this is for 3D buildings.

Hi Bro kb27,

Did you mean MFM supports 3D buildings? Thats fast considering not many Nuvi models that can support 3D buildings.
Warm regards,
Mito

Hi All,

just for info to share.

i bought nuvi255W recently and upgraded to their recent MSM maps. noticed that there is no longer any gmapsupp.img. instead it has gmapbmap.img, gmapprom.img, gmapprom1.img. so i was able to copy over the gmapsupp.img (generated for MFM map) to my nuvi without much fuss or error. (thank goodness).

managed to install mfm today. it worked so far (at least in simulation mode while i'm at work). :-)

No, I didn't mean that.
Just for those with that file in their folder.
It is currently used for US and Europe map as much as I know and only certain model of Garmin can support.

Appreciate clarification on:
I understand, Nuvi internal memory can contain gmapprom.img, gmapprom1.img as well as gmapsupp.img. In this setup, is a gmapsupp1.img ( like gmapprom1.img) permitted in same Nuvi?

Hoping to just use only one SD card and then only for my Audiobooks ....

:tq:
