Which version of GE are you using? I encounter similar problem previously after I upgraded my GE to ver 5 (and tested using both 1.0.57.0 and 1.0.57.2). I have downgraded my GE back to ver 4 and everything seems to be in running order.
If you are running GE ver 4, then the interface between mapedit and GE might be corrupted

I am referring to the 'codes' that mapedit is using to interact with GE (or vise versa). Take my case for example, I have this problem when I was using it in mapedit. But when I browse in GE without launching mapedit, the problem does not pop up.
For me, I managed to resolve it by uninstalling and reinstalling GE.
Hi,
I'm sorry for this. The problem is due to inner instability in Google Maps server:

Please upgrade to GPSMapEdit version 57.3. If this will not help immediatedly, please also wait for about one day without accessing Google Maps until Google's block will end.
Best regards,

"An error in one of our systems caused us to direct some of our Web traffic through Asia, which created a traffic jam," he said. "As a result, about 14% of our users experienced slow services or even interruptions. We've been working hard to make our services ultrafast and 'always on,' so it's especially embarrassing when a glitch like this one happens. We're very sorry that it happened, and you can be sure that we'll be working even harder to make sure that a similar problem won't happen again. "
-Google senior VP of engineering Urs Hoelzle attributed the problem to a traffic bottleneck.
