For example, a pair of boots which will "walk" during navigation in nuvi 255w, appears only stationary in my nuvi 200. A ball will roll in 255W but not in mine.

Anyone experienced the above situation?

Animations is only supported in newer and higher end Nuvis. Your Nuvi does not support it.

Have you been editing the POI via Mapsource? If you have then Nuvi will duplicate the file name. You have to manually delete one of them.

Need help guys. I deleted some old maps from my friend's Nuvi 200 (US & Malsingmaps) to update to newer maps. The free space before delete was 10MB and after deleting a few hundred MBs the free space is still 10MB. Anyone had this problem before?

Hi bploh, maybe you should perform hard reset (clear all user data)?

Turn off Nuvi, then press and hold lower right corner of Nuvi screen, turn on Nuvi, continue to hold (the screen) until you get the prompt to clear all user data, select Yes. Important: Before performing hard reset, back up current.gpx from ..\Garmin\GPX folder. After successful reset, rename backed up current.gpx to temp.gpx and place it in ..\Garmin\GPX folder. Note: After resetting Nuvi, it's also advisable to let Nuvi gather satellite data outdoors and stationary, until GPS fix is obtained.

If after hard reset, still the same, I'd advise you back up all files and folders in Nuvi (including hidden files), and format it using PC (just like a USB drive), and then replace all files.

Thanks for your recommendation.
I tried to hard reset but couldn't work. I wanted to try the format it but didn't dare as I was worried that it would delete the system files as well. I know that this might solve the problem as the similar problem happened before on my USB drive.

I was playing around and manage to free up the space using this method.

In windows explorer, go to Folder Options > View. Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".

Browse to Garmin drive (e.g. E:). I saw a "Recycled" folder in my Garmin. All deleted files were in the Recycled folder. I deleted all files in that folder hence free up the space :)

Nuvi 200 Weak Voice

Postby KCOP » Tue Oct 13, 2009 4:48 am

Even with volume at 100% the voice in my Nuvi 200 is very weak. Is there anything that can be done to bring the lady back to life?

There are freewares available to help you increase the volume of the voice. You need to:
    1. Convert the .vpm file into .wav format
    2. Increase the amplitude of each file (there are about 100+ files)
    3. Merge the .wav into .vpm

For #1 and #3, Google for TurboCCC website and look for NonTTSVoiceEditor,
For #2, Google for Audacity.

Have fun playing with these utilities...
