For Nuvi (backup & transfer)
1. Connect your Nuvi to your PC or laptop using a USB cable
2. Wait for your PC/laptop to recognize your Nuvi. The dialog below will pop up.
3. Double-click the Garmin folder. You will see something similar to below:
4. Double-click the GPX folder. You will see current.gpx in the GPX folder. This file stores all your favourites. Copy this file to your PC/laptop.
5. You can transfer your Favourites by copying the current.gpx file into another Nuvi

1. Connect your phone or PDA to your PC
2. Look for the "Garmin\Apps\Symbian" (for Symbian phones) or "Garmin" (for WM PDAs)
3. Backup the Garmin_wpt.nvm file

For Mobile XT Symbian (transfer to Mapsource or Nuvi)
1. Go to Tools then "Manage My Data"
2. Press the left soft key to select "Manage"
3. Select "Export GPX"
4a) Transfer favourites to Nuvi
4b) Transfer favourites to Mapsource
1. Go to Tools then "Manage My Data"
2. Press the left soft key to select "Manage"
3. Select "Export GPX"
4a) Transfer favourites to Nuvi
- Copy current.gpx to your PC/laptop
- Rename current.gpx to current1.gpx
- Copy current1.gpx into your Nuvi's "Garmin\GPX" folder
4b) Transfer favourites to Mapsource
- Remove the SD Card from phone
- Insert SD Card into your PC's card reader
- Start Mapsource
- Select Transfer->Receive from Device

I use gps Babel to convert that gpx file to kml and have it on google earth, there I could edit the places and do what ever I like and then rexport it via kml to babel to poi...
