I suggest a thread for "road trips".
I enjoyed that thread very much in MSM and hope we have
something similar here.

Ahem, roger. Just create one in the most appropriate forum here. Worse that could happen is one of us moderators will move it to another more appropriate forum, or rename the thread.

i suggest
1) provide speed limit indicator for all road. sometimes, speed limit changes like from 90kmh to 60kmh. if unnoticed, we can unexpectedly received summon. please note that i'm not talking about speed trap. i'm talking about speed limit indicator that always changing along the road.

2) i suggest mod list down all the valid suggestion that has been made into a point form. 1, 2, 3, ... and stick it on the first page so that there's no double suggestion. imagine if this thread reaches more than 40 pages. how to ensure our suggestion is original/unique without reading all the 40 pages, right?


3) Is it possible to name all the POIs in dual languange.. english and malay. For example, some clinic is written and "klinik", and some other clinic is written as "clinic". Well, not just for klinik, all other building/PO as well.. many times, I have to try both language when searching for the POI..

My suggestion: In garage sales forum, separate sale from MY and SG. I think it more easier to deal within same location in term of communication through phone, delivery or even COD.

SUGGESTIONS BOX 2009 should be only contained suggestions and any suggestions send would be discussed by the mappers and moderator only and would be replied by them in short and sassy as e.g. Will be implemented , accepted but cannot be implemented , repeated idea , accepted but need more elaboration on the idea.

This is to make it simple reply to the suggestion and to avoid from repeating replied to or commenting given by others members.
Just another suggestion.

Contacting the owner of the private company such as hotels , resorts , hospitals , clinics , amusement park and other commercial place which is their location are already in MFM map or will be creates in for future maps to advertise their product in MFM web.

With the fee for the advertisement , MFM can be survive without expecting any donations from the generous public. MFM can and will be become as one of the most popular web and could provide win/win situation for the MFM web , members , public and to the private company.

Probably too much of having dual languages for a single POI, a standardisation on what to use is much better option. I was looking for Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara .. and as you said, some are under JPN and some other NRD. I believe a cleanup on POIs is really needed.

I think better in submit in official name. From the example that you mentioned, Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara is an official name. Another example is Wisma Persekutuan, should we use Wisma Persekutuan or Federal Building?

guys..better use an official name..as u know 'BM' is an Official language in malaysia & most Government Building used 'BM'..some foreigner would be when go to 'Federal Building' as in GPS and when he be here and do not see any similar words..coz name 'Wisma Persekutuan'..

Yea.. I think the official name is the most appropriate. I frequently unable to find POIs, only to realize later that they actually exist. The names either got translated to English or worst when the unofficial names are used.

If you are not local to that area, chances are you wouldn't know how the locals call it. Official names provide uniformity and they are more accessible to everyone.

i hope mfm will start making 3D buildings landmark + lane assist junction view for non-localised garmin sets...

it was very selfish for them to lock these features to localised units only. the least they cold do was sell licensed copy for no localised garmin sets.
