If you are around Bandar Sri Damansara or, Balakong, how about, meet me and have teh tarik... :)

Just tried the updater.exe newfile.rgn from command line.. I tried it many times... should be no problem.

Your help is most appreciated, Bahathir. But I live in Thailand. So, I couldn't meet you there.

I will try again as your recommendation but if it doesn't work then I need to continue using PouchX version.

Thanks so much.

It will be very useful to us here if you can share how to create service firmware from 2.50TWN (or other gupdate.gcd) so, anyone here can create it when there is new version available. Or if you plan to help us to create it forever, then it's fine.

How about using the webupdater?
Or, just run the installer.

Here how I did it with my 'clean' 250TWN 755T.

1) extract the package(.exe) with RAR utility
2) Copy everything in directory nuvi765/garmin to garmin_drive:\garmin directory.
2a) This includes gupdate.gcd, RemoteSW, ExtData, Help, Voice directory (just in case)
3) Eject/remove safely the mass storage...
4) My nuvi started updating.... No errors

I don't know what will happen when updating with 765TWN250_PouchX. Not try it yet....

First impression.... mmmmm.... mmmmm... Ok, no changes :) except the version number.
Software : 2.60
GPS : 2.80

Need to try it first... :)

Ok for those who want the 'clean' 765TWN260.rgn, get it here. the updater.exe and how to use it, refer to my steps in previous page.

p/s: All the updating procedures were done on GNU/Linux environment :).

You are the man bro! Successfully updated mine to 2.60 with ROM check "passed" (Initially can still see "System Software Missing" but I just ignored knowing you can always bail me out later if stuck somewhere hahaha... say to revert back to US version)

2.60TWN noticeable improvement(s) over 2.50TWN so far:

1) Speed limit preference at Navigation option: You may choose "Always off", "Over Speed Limit" or "Always On"

:good: :tq:

How come I missed that... nice find :)...

All the easter eggs are still there :)
1) 1-sec track logging
2) Diagnostics page
3) GPS SNR Logging
4) GPS Jammer Test
5) System/memory status
6) GPS signal page, by tapping the gps signal bar
7) Simulation mode/gps off buy tap and hold the gps signal bar

Good, good. :)

Want to add my Diagnostic screen :)
Notice the ROM check.

Compare that to PouchX's :)

PouchX.
Welcome to MFM.

Yes, I may not know why and when the ROM will get failed, but at the end of the day, at least my 755T runs without any problem.

As I mentioned earlier, the updater, exe will write the boot section to nuvi flash, and then the data section. If you able to modified the checksum section, I think you can make your modified sw to run on nuvi and PASSED the RAM and ROM checking..

I already made a cokctail 7x5 sw with boot section from 3.40US and data section from 2.50TWN. Yes, it did run on my nuvi, immediately after ejecting the nuvi, and PASSED the RAM (3.4) and ROM (2.50) checking. but, when I restarted it, it shows 'software system missing'. Also the negative was, the voice/sound PITCH was low, like a slow motion movie sound :).

So in this case, I can assume, boot section will do some initializations and set some API for the SW/apps from the data section to interface with nuvi hardware. I don't have much knowledge in dissambling codes, but just enough to use hex editor and read/understand intstructions from Internet :).

Anyway, welcome again to MFM, and we appreciate your knowledge around here.

Thank you.
