bahathir wrote:If you able to modified the checksum section, I think you can make your modified sw to run on nuvi and PASSED the RAM and ROM checking..

I know how checksum is calculated for Garmin's firmware.
(it is calculated for fw_all section only)
But I have no idea why this way does not work with 2.60TWN.
I need to ask some other "strong" guys to look at it.
Anyway..ROM Fail does not cause any problems.
As you know you will get ROM Fail when you will change single letter in texts in fw, coz CRC is not correct after that.
But, you do not change software running instructions.
So, there is no reason for unit to crash after such changes.

bahathir wrote:I already made a cokctail 7x5 sw with boot section from 3.40US and data section from 2.50TWN. Yes, it did run on my nuvi, immediately after ejecting the nuvi, and PASSED the RAM (3.4) and ROM (2.50) checking. but, when I restarted it, it shows 'software system missing'. Also the negative was, the voice/sound PITCH was low, like a slow motion movie sound :).

Loader and fw_all contains hardware ID.
When you will use loader with HID that is differnet than fw_all HID... you will always get SYS SOFTWARE MISSING.
Also... I recomend to make USER DATA RESET after every firmware udpate/downgrade/change.

=D> It is good to have "strong" guys like you both (and others of course) here coz we MFM members and Nuvi users can learn something... and yes, PouchX... welcome to MFM and kindly share your knowledge here too... I have tried out yours/bahathir's version and admire both you guys' creativity (me even went to your Polish forum... but can't understand a thing there... hahaha!)

Yes it works. You cannot set it. It is determined by mapper who sets the speed limit of road. A icon will pop up on the road that you are traveling if you exceed the limit.

The setting is here:

(11:46pm: Turned it off yet keep on getting "Over Speed Limit" notification when driving just now...hmmmm)

Not sure whether it is new in TWN2.60 but also just figured-out there is a quick access to activate screen shot cam by pressing the LH round-shape (above Overall avg.) for few seconds here:

Tested PouchX 2.61 version today using the same MFM 1.63 and I guess Garmin may have also made other improvement over the old TWN2.50 because the car icon did not jump over to nearby roads when passing through an area with weak satellite signal (e.g. under fly-over, short tunnel etc.. such as from Kesas Highway to Seremban highway interchange)

PouchX and others :)
Default setting for speed limit display is, the speed limit will shown if the vehicle exceed the the speed limit. Refer to my post in this thread, page 23. 2.60TWN has the option to change the behaviour.

BTW, here, in Malaysia/Singapore (MalSing), there are several localized model 205W, 255W, 760 and 765, which has a localized firmware/software which able to read/display the encyrpted JCV file. I also made 760 MalSing rgn, but all the members who tried it with 760 US/TWN, are NOT successfuly converting their to 760s. Quite sad, because I am not able to help others , who has the 760 US/TWN :( BTW, I only has 755T, so I cannot test the 760 software rgn.

As I mentioned in earlier post, the Garmin updater.exe able to FORCE INSTALLl any rgn, regardless the HWID. I hope you can utilized the capability :). Actually I really like and admire your works, and I hope you able achieve higher. Hope we can do more, together .... :)

TQ.

I know that. But with CNE 2010.1 this option is not shown.

BTW. ROM Failed reason is found. No more ROM Fail after CRC change in correct place ;)

Now, I'm working on menu icons change.
I want to place icons from N1xxx series which are prettier than original icons.

First results:

Start Screen

Clock icon
