Trip to pantai merdeka aka merdeka beach

Postby doraemon » Sun Oct 11, 2009 10:46 am

Its a normal weekend on 3rd Oct... just drive to some attraction POI on our map and see how these POI were doing...

1st stop: N5 35.083 E100 22.500 (Archeology Site Kuala Muda)

When reach there... because the small stretch of road were not in map, so took 2 rounds to confirm its location. To my surprise, this so call Archeological site was just a wall. This wall is about 20~30 feet long. And resides in front of a kampung.

2nd Stop: N5 35.484 E100 22.517 (Archeology Site Sungai Mas)

I took 3 rounds here looking for sign of it, unfortunately nothing were to be found. If some of u found it, please inform me.

There are not much attractions actually... But so happen to see a road sign show the way to pantai merdeka. And since its still early, so decided to go there to take a look.

3rd stop: N5 39.337 E100 20.029 (A small beach behide Pulau Sayak Fisheries Research Centre)

4th stop: N5 39.984 E100 22.025 (Merdeka Beach)
This place has been upgraded since my last visit on year 2001 or 2002. There was no resort during my last visit. The water was high because its 15th on lunar calendar. So cannot see the beach. But I can tell you the colour of the water is milky black. I personally wont allow kids and myself to get into the water seriously!

5th stop: N5 39.919 E100 22.025 (Merdeka Beach Resort)
The place started its operations on Feb 2009. Very new resort. But no Wifi service.

The restaurant... I order 1 fried rice and 1 mee jawa. And there were no other guests there. The food took almost 50 minutes to served. :fire:

Anything wrong with the pillar?
IMG_4467_resize.JPG

Sure la! The corridor was so narrow and don't know which brainless designer design the pillar with a booby trap trying to let you kick on it. Tell you frankly... I was the victim of the booby trap. :x

The chalet looks good on the outside... but i doubt the "contains" also looks ok. Why? Read on...

The things on the wrong places = bad impressions.
Not clean up after grass cutting...

Some dying plants and lousy maintenance work.

I betthe sink is never wash before. May be wash once or twice since its open. Don't get fool by the pictures... There are horrible stains on the sink and covered by the leaves. And... 3 different design of water tap.

These sticks were found just beside the main gate. If you happen to be there, I bet they still sit there.

There's two restaurants in the East Coast: Restoran Sabar Menanti, and Restoran Sabar Menunggu (Dungun and Cherating... dunno which is where), but the one in Cherating managed to serve drinks to my friends and I only after about 20 minutes (we ordered the normal stuff: teh tarik, teh o ais, etc) and food came about 30 minutes later  Since then, I have never ever wanted to drop by at restaurants with the word 'SABAR' in thier name.
