Totally agreed with what alihms say. After I brought my Omnia II, I visited a local site famous for hardware (you know where right ?) and was pissed off for the way some member's behave, they act like they own the site. Some of the members openly criticise your query as stupid and ask you "go GOOGLE for the answer". One of the member was so piss off that he vow he will never want to ask any question from that forum any more.
So, in comparision, here is the heaven, the other one is hell.

I frequently visit local motoring websites. While the sites are informative and up-to-date, with latest scoops and tips, the forum atmosphere there is in direct contrast with the one we have here. Forumers there are criticizing, complaining and venting their angers and frustrations. Some flame each other, calling others by vulgar names, A few even go as low as saying we are a bunch of total idiots; not capable of doing anything worthwhile. (Perodua MPV is launching this 23 November – you can expect another round of intense fighting these coming weeks there).

Visits to another local sites (dealing with electronic gadgets) present you with full of mindless chatters, off-color jokes, unsubstantiated rumors and spamming. Even local online news and political websites do not fare better. The reader comments area are riddled with complains and highlights of government incompetence. Without realizing it, it slowly starts to ingrain into me that we indeed are what we say we are.

Joining this site is a breath of fresh air. Really, I am not exaggerating. I was awestruck by the camaraderie feeling when I first saw people addressing others by ‘bro’ and ‘sis’. You will never see this in those motoring sites. Here we help one another, total strangers, without expecting anything in returns. I first thought there must be some catch somewhere. Fortunately they aren’t. What a relief!

Thanks MFM. You guys let me have faith in ourselves again.

:tq:

Being nice to everybody is part of our "constitution"

About Malfreemaps
Our philosophy and objectives
We strongly believe in updating GPS maps and sharing it with members of the public. We do this as a hobby. We do not look forward to any monetary reward. Our own satisfaction plus appreciation from satisfied users are ample reward for us.

I also believe strongly in a community which treats everyone especially newbies nicely. Everyone is supposed to have fun with their gadgets and hobbies. So there is no point being hostile to those who are less familiar with online forums and forum etiquette. MFM values its active and contributing members more than its maps.

The key to achieving a friendly and helpful atmosphere is leadership by example. If the senior members and moderators are kind to newbies, everyone will follow. If it is the other way round, MFM will just be another typical forum.

Very true indeed, Ant. Taking the "higher road" in the interaction between MFM and MSM is also part of what makes MFM a friendly place to be in. Thanks, for not making me to choose between all my old friends on both sites. 8-)

:welcome: to MFM.

I am sure Bro Anthony will agree with me that the effort of having a good MFM map are from all the MFM members.
Without feedback and contribution from the members our map is as good as piece of white paper.
If you wat to present US do join in our GG.
