Re: Garmin Mobile XT : Backup My Locations
Jazimza, I believe the NVM files are not interchangeable between different OSes. I may be wrong (to assume all NVM files) but I did come across GARMIN.NVM incompatibility issue between S60 and WM versions. One of the recommended method is to receive data from device using Mapsource and then transfering it to the other device (with some versions of GMXT you may need to export/import GPX).
I take everything in moderation, including moderation.

To use your language (other than english) you need the necessary voice file and transfer garmin folder to /Garmin folder in your SD card.

Cik Norhaliza,
On your GMXT, go to "Tools", "Settings", "Audio", click "Voice" and you will see a list of the languages that you can select. The list correspond to voice files that are installed in your device.
Chances are, Malay is not in the list because Malay is not one of the standard languages.
Voice files have to be downloaded from the Garmin US or Local websites. But please be aware that some (including myself) have had disastrous results with languages are that are not compatible with our devices. These are mainly the TTS (Text To Speech) voice files. It caused our devices to become "bricked" (rendered useless). Garmin may have fixed this for the newer firmware. I have also not heard of anyone having problem with GMXT Voice files.
I believe Malay is available for My/Sg and Indonesian Garmin Nuvis. The basic voice files for Nuvi are compatible with GMXT but I dont know about Malay. You may want to try and download it from the local Garmin website and try. The voice files must be stored in the folder ...Garmin/Voice/ in your device in order for it to work. Just copy and paste it in this folder after downloading.
For the time being I see no need for and is content on leaving it at British English.
Salam
