How to install Garmin MapSource for the First Time

Hi all

i just moved office and i'm trying to install at my work pc but i found that "administrator" has disabled "registry editing".

what else can i do ?

Extract Mapsource EXE installer using WinRar or similar utility. Then run *.MSI file (depending on version, either MAIN.MSI or MSMAIN.MSI, within the extracted files) to install, it'll skip the requirement to have previously installed Mapsource. If that still does not install (although runs with no errors), proceed with executing SETUP.EXE (ie. older Mapsource v6.13.7).

Hey guys but i have a new problem .After i downloaded mapsource,"There is a problem with the MFM installation.Please reinstall MFM ans start map source again." appeared.I tried to open the file "Mapsource Fix v0.2e" but i can't.It kept showing whether i want to open or save that file when i already clicked open.Please tell me what to do. Thank you.

You need to reinstall again if you have to. And you need to clear everything about mapsource that you have in your pc..

Yep, i followed all the steps i tried before, but I believe it has somthing to do with my WINZIP application. The MFM maps downloaded apparently in ZIP files, so I need to UNZIP them as usual. And these are the error messages during the UNZIP ping process :

" Internal error processing iso image "

And the WINZIP application just terminates itself. DO I need a more powerful UNZIP software or maybe buy the original ones. I downloaded these files from CNET DOwnload, so i believe the WINZIP is of good quality (45 days free trial).

Sori to side track a bit here, try to use 7-zip utility. It is very reliable and open source. Since switching to 7-zip, I have ditched all the rest. Can follow this link to download - http://www.7-zip.org/

just upgrade to windows 7 64 bit and have problem installing mapsource. this is what i do:

just extract mapsource (using 7zip) and run MAIN.msi.

mapsource will be install on the same drive on [drive]:\MapSource

the registry entry for InstallDir was created properly pointed to [drive]:\MapSource

shortcut in start menu will be created (point to correct files)

after installing MFM map, mapsource will open it and can use without any problems.

I've install garmin map source as follow the instruction but it is not running.
After installation, I try to run the map source program and I get an error message "MapSource could not find any installed MapSource map products.
Please install one or more MapSource Map products and start MapSource again."
Please help. Thank you.
