Hello,
Dropping in to say "Hi" to everyone.
Also at the same time downloading files for a Nuvi205 I just got.

Wasn't sure initially whether to install the downloads on the PC or the Garmin, but thot I'd opt for the PC in case anything goes wrong.

Had some hiccups d/loading the .reg file which kept on being saved as a text file even after changing the view options in explorer and later trying the "Run">Import>bla bla bla". After the 15th time, I decided to d'load the mapsource file anyway, even without the .reg file; then I found it was there in the winzip d/load list as well ... weird!

Also wasn't sure which file to install first - 100222 or the "ready-to-use" 100215. Since 10022 had the tag "Main Site", so I decided to go with that one (after opening a "Garmin" file on my desktop - read somewhere I've to do this).

Anywayz, am waiting for the 100222 file to complete it's download (showed me it'll take 4 hrs 55 minutes!! Now after about 50 mins. it's been reduced to 2 hrs 56 min.). Don't know whether the slow upload is due to my connection or my old PC (running on XP).

Much thanks to all involved for this site/forum and from my reading of the threads, everyone seems to be very helpful.

Cheerio!

So were you able to install Mapsource in the end?

Maybe you should try another site (links posted at first post) other than the one on slow connection.

Anyway, after you have successfully installed Mapsource, you may execute MFM 100222 installer, and it will first install the map in Mapsource, and thereafter will offer the option to generate GMAPSUPP.IMG (Garmin detailed map for device).

BTW, :welcome: to the forum.

Hey! Hi DVPRO!!

Yes I got the Mapsource file. But The problem I had was with the Mapsource REgistry Script.
But it's settled.

I forgot to connect my Garmin to the PC after the creation of the gmappsupp.img and just clicked on "Yes" & "Save" and then wondered why there was no prompt to connect the Garmin to the PC ... duh! I'm such a klutz with these gadgets & stuff.

I didn't know where the files went and so d/loaded the 100222 file again - this time using the alternative MY site & it w a s a b r e e z e !!! Only 7 min.!!!
Again I didn't connect the Garmin to the PC when I was supposed to and after re-re-reading the threads, found that it's in the Malfreemaps folder.

So I just copied it from the PC folder to the Garmin folder, replacing the old file with the new.
That should get it going, shouldn't it?? - I mean just copying the one gmappsupp.img file??
Any other files that I should copy from the PC into the Garmin unit?

Sorry if it sounds like going round and round the bush ... but I 'm quite fening myself.

You just need to replace the IMG file if you're sure the previous one is the older version. I mean you would not want to replace a map accidentally if you're unsure of the content in the first place.
