Another question if I can get further advice. How do I start the track logger control?

Hi GPSiew

i bought the 1460 last evening and before i bought it i took out my 255W to compare feature to feature. also noticed

1) no calibration option inside the "display" feature
2) no promiximity alert option

as for (1), the aeco guy told me that to caliberate, one needs to switch off the unit, then when switching it on again, to hold / press down the "on/off" button (at the top left corner like computer button) for about 3 seconds or more, slightly longer and it will recaliberate.

i forgot to ask why there is no proximity alert or "extras" features on the nuvi 1460 as i was distracted by my friend asking some other questions but once i get the answer from aeco i will share here.

sorry to ask these questions, i followed this particular thread from beginning to end but somehow lost halfway

so to summarise, do i understand that mfm map can be used for nuvi 1460 but only if i store in in a sd card and in a separate folder?

do i have to create "garmin" folder to put the map folder inside it or can i just have the "map" folder on the sd card?

thanks in advance.

Create a folder "MAP" in Main Memory or SD card and stored your maps in the same folder

Before everything else, you must update your firmware to 2.10 then only you can read MFM map.

As for where to place the map and what name to give the map, please note the following:

In the SD card:
The GPS still read maps in the /Garmin folder but the map filename must be gmapsupp.img
The GPS can also read numerous maps in /Map folder and map filenames can be anything with the extension of .img for example: Australia.img or NZ.img or China.img, or MFM.img, etc.

In the Internal Memory:
The GPS no longer reads map files in the /Garmin folder but reads them from the /.System folder. Allowed map filenames are: gmapprom.img, gmapprom1.img and gmapsupp.img.
Have not tested with gmappoem.img and gmapsup2.img so not sure if they will work.
Additionally, the GPS can also read maps in a /Map folder in the root directory having map filenames as for the /Map folder in the SD card.

Sorry I'm newbie and just got the 1460 but can't seem to view mfm via sd card.
Is there a way of locating the sd card on the screen?

Thanks. Hope someone can help me.

Don't really understand what you are saying.

can't seem to view mfm via sd card

As long as MFM map is named as gmapsupp.img, your 1460 can display the map if it resides in the /Garmin folder in your SD card. If the /Garmin folder does not exist, you have to create one. Alternatively, if you create a /Map folder in the SD card, you can have the MFM map displayed if you place the map image in this folder. it is up to you whether you want to keep the filename as gmapsupp.img or rename it as MFM.img for example.

Is there a way of locating the sd card on the screen?

I totally cannot understand what you are asking. First or all, which screen? Your PC screen or your GPS screen? You can of course view your SD card on your PC screen through a card reader or with the SD card in your GPS connected via USB cable to your PC. It is impossible to view your SD card in your GPS screen. So what is the true meaning of your question?
