Hard to answer more directly, bro. You should notice BernGPS active in MSM and not here. If BernGPS is mapping here at MFM, his rank will be a mapper.

He registered in MFM when we just started. I noticed and gave him the VC rank together with other ex-mapper such as jmleng. It was just a matter of courtesy.

To be very frank, you won't get much interest here about East M'sia map. BernGPS has a good map at MSM and there is little need to re-map. However, MFM is supportive of any interest in mapping. So we will have a Sarawak map ONLY if there is enough volunteer to start AND maintain it.

East Malaysia maps on MFM?

Postby indrapr » Sat Nov 15, 2008 7:57 pm

In the other forum, bro envincem (Brunei mapper) has expressed his "concerns" that the next version of their map will be delayed to, at the earliest, January 2009.

I am just wondering whether we can invite bro BernGPS and bro envincem to MFM as well, so they can include their mapsets for Sarawak, Sabah dan Brunei into MFM as well. Meaning, they can still be MSM mappers while at the same time, be MFM mappers as well.

I believe this would be a win-win solution for both parties. The mappers (bro BernGPS and bro envincem) will benefit from MFM's frequent updates to its map sets to accommodate their passion and hobby to update their maps regularly, and the MFM community will also benefit in having Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei mapsets as well.

Perhaps one of the seniors mappers here can try approaching them?

Thanks, and apologise if this suggestion might offend anyone. :)

Why not? Many MFM contributors here are contributing to MSM as well. I don't see a reason why an MSM mapper cannot be an MFM mapper as well. :) :)

Bern is certainly aware of MFM and I'm sure Ant will welcome him to join MFM. However, I understand Bern has a preference for locked maps. Perhaps in time he may change his views ...

Well, I am sure if the invitation had been given at an earlier time and with probably a bit more sincerity things might have gone a long way.....

I am sure BernGPS' East Malaysia maps at MSM will go a long way too :)

MFM should focus on its own projects and to-do list. I am sure whatever temporary setbacks at MSM will be overcame in due time 8-)
