Re: Custom POI download - Police Speed Traps (v3.7) - 17/9/09
Speed limit zone at the North south Expressway near Gua Tempurung.
I noticed that the speed limit warning has gone a little bit haywired in this area. It started giving out 90km/hour speed limit warning although we are still inside the 110km/hour zone. The same happened when we travelled in both directions (south bound, north bound) of the expressway.
I am submitting the exact point where the 90km/hour speed limit zone falls....
Thanks.....

All the downloads are at the 'Free Public Downloads', here. I would also advice you to read the Newbie Lounge to get better insights of the forum.
Cheers!
Hi Zamad
I too fail to find the Download for Police Speed Traps (v3.7) - 17/9/09 although your subject above is Custom POI download - Police Speed Traps (v3.6) - 13/6/09
I have compiled some errors in earlier versions but would not want to contribute till I am able to look at the latest (v3.7) - 17/9/09
I hope you can assist in pointing exactly where to download. Your assistance is most appreciated.

stratman2 wrote:MFM Speedtrap cPOI version 3.7 (17-9-2009) is available for download.![]()
Features:
- 276 speed trap points.
- Corrected some errors in the previous version (thanks to MFM contributors, special mention goes to "wwloon")![]()
- 1,000 meter proximity alert.
- Smaller custom icon (16x16 pixels).
- Separate audio alerts indicating the speed limit for that zone
- Voice-less format for GMXT users and Nuvi owners who prefer the default GPS tone.
- Voice announcement for all Garmin Nuvi/Streetpilot/Zumo and compatible models..
- Consolidated speed POIs (no more clutter in your POI list like in v3.1)![]()
Installation Procedure:
1. Download the zipped file and extract its contents.
2. Choose one of the GPI files. Nuvi 2xx users must install only the WAV version. GMXT, eTrex Legend/Vista users and those who prefer the original Nuvi alert tone should use the GMXT file instead. MP3 playback capable Nuvi users (such as the 300, 600 and 700-series) can use the MP3 format for its much smaller size.
3. Copy the desired GPI file into either your unit or memory card. The folder must be named "\Garmin\POI". If it doesn't exist in your SD card, create the folder manually.
4. Ensure that your unit's alerts for Custom POIs are turned on and the audio settings set to "Continuous-All Alerts".
Caveats and disclaimers:
a. This POI is based on speed trap areas locations and speed limits as submitted by GPSr contributors. No guarantee is implied as to the accuracy or validity of the exact locations.
b. Speed trap waypoints that were originally placed in between dual carriage way highways and not indicated which way they face are assumed to be facing either way, so you will get alerts from both directions.
c. The police do not have fixed points of speed traps for long. They are smart enough to move their cameras to different positions and vary their operations from time to time.
e. Please drive responsibly. Do not misuse this POI for your public road racing exploits.
f. By downloading this POI and installing it in your device, you agree to indemnify the author of any consequences arising from the use of this POI.
Please feedback me any errors or omissions and I will correct them in the next release.
How to Submit Feedback and Contributions for Speed Traps:
- Please attach a Mapsource POI file in GDB or GPX format containing the location of the trap camera. Appreciate if you could also highlight the route or stretch of road. All coordinates compiled via Mapsource should be in the Grid format Lat/Lon hddd.dddd°. You can change the default format in Mapsource. Click Edit->Preferences->Position and change the Grid format accordingly.
- If you don't have access to Garmin's Mapsource software or don't know how to use it, send the coordinates of the speed trap camera locations in WGS84 datum and Positional Grid format: (N xxx.yyyy, E xxx.yyyy). Save the location on your Garmin unit and post the coordinates.
- Please indicate the speed limit for that particular stretch of road/expressway!
- Only speed trap POIs for Malaysia please, no others. Please note that someone else is handling speed trap POIs for Singapore, not me.
Hi Bro Zaman and Bro Stratman
Pls ignore my earlier trait. I finally found the download page as above. Thank you and continue with the good job. Happy Hari Raya.

NorthSouth Highway E1 going to South SpeedTrap Camera along Kilometer 292-294 (just after R&R Simpang Pulai/petronas).
The police road block will be just before Tapah R&R.
Usually operate in the morning between 8 a.m -12 p.m.
