Converting Nuvi 2x5W Firmware to MAL/SIN Firmware

I have successfully convert my US set to a local ones with JV and LA features. Thanks to everyone for your guidance.

The new map version is 2009.5 and the online indicates 2009.4

From this point onwards, how do I update the map, from this http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/s ... /MapUpdate ?
How about JV?

The installer will update the map, as well as JCV image. BTW, where did you get the info that there is a latter version than MSM NT 2009.40?

i think 2009.5 is the old one
the latest available is 2009.40 not 2009.4

Yes Evilhomura89, you are correct, MSM NT 2009.5 is the earlier version, latest should be MSM NT 2009.40. Thanks for the correction.

Thanks for the clarification. The 2009.5 version does not have the Lane Assist feature.

The garmin link, which was provided by me in my earlier post, require the serial no. to download the latest version. Since the conversion was made by me, is there other ways for me to update the map and JV to the 2009.40 version or I am struck at 2009.5 forever?

For flashing my S4 unit... I downloaded all the latest files and did this...

My issue is I slide and hold and plug into USB.... but updater does not detect my unit.. WHY? Please help... I tried soooo many times.

3. Drag the file 082701000270S4US.rgn and drop to Updater.exe

4. Under Connection Setting, Select USB Device.

5. Slide and HOLD the Power Button of the Nuvi, then quickly plug in the USB cable to
connect to the computer. (Continue to hold the power button).

6. The updater.exe will detect the USB Device with your model software and Unit ID.

Try swapping Step#5 with connecting Nuvi while in diagnostic mode. Turn on Nuvi, at main interface, tap and hold battery icon for about 7-10secs until the diagnostic page comes up. Thereafter, it's advisable to let RAM and ROM pass the necessary tests, and then only connect Nuvi to PC. Also at Step#6, there is no need to hold the switch, because you were not holding it in the first place.

BUT, I still killed a S3 unit. It keeps rebooting non-stop. How?

How can I restore to original US Ver 5.80? Where can I get this FLASH to use with updater?
