If I want the maps to be smaller (in theory smaller should be less laggy), can I also omit states which I don't visit such as east coast (Kelantan, Terenganu, Pahang) and nothern states (perlis, kedah, penang, perak)? How about the POIs, I have POIs for Penang state. Do I need to omit this as well?

You can omit whatever you do not need and only load for example Penang only. Personal POI does not occupy much space. POI embedded in Map cannot be omitted.

Also don't leave out "MFM POI: xxx" map tile as well, as the POIs embedded in main map are only Custom Icon POIs.

You should have MFM mapset installed in the first place.

Yes. So can you view the map in Mapsource? First select View > Switch to product to select MFM mapset. Then select View > Zoom Out Region. Then just drag and drop the whole area of the map using Map Tool to select all map tiles. Selected map tiles will turn reddish.

Mapsource is a sort of viewer (and more) for Garmin mapset. Before you install MFM-Garmin mapset, you should have Mapsource installed in PC in the first place. Read here for guide on Mapsource installation: How to install Garmin Mapsource

ah.. okay.. well, i'm stuck again lol, at
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=662
at step D. Send maps to device, step number 3, as u can see from the picture below "Select the correct drive. MapSource will auto copy to "Garmin" Folder", well, mine is somewhat different, the only option available for me is the box, "Find Device" and "Cancel", other than that, nothing else.

When i click "find device", this msg shows up "No devices were found. Please make sure your device is connected to the computer and turned on, then try again. You may also need to set the interface option on your GPS to 'Garmin' or 'Host'.

Btw, i'm using Nokia 5800 XM, hope it work 0.0!

Use a card reader or connect your phone (data card) as a USB mass storage device, and in Mapsource select the appropriate drive.
