Now have to see if all 10,000 points of the tracks will stay on the screen.
The 'floating' screen is now much easier to control.....
So if all the salient points raised so far is 'gao thim' then there should be no more qualms on the NUVI1460 lor.....

I am trying to find excuses to upgrade my 205W to 1460. Haiz... another 'excuse' removed from my list. So hard to convince myself to upgrade.

Here are some possible excuses:
- Faster signal acquisition
- Junction View
- Traffic Message Channel capable
- Accepts unlimited multiple maps
- newer firmware (whether this is better is arguable)

Bro
By the word 'cradle' are you referring to the holder that connects to the power cable, where you can easily remove the unit from it without having to unplug the cable? I quite agree with you that it is a good idea (I also heard somewhere that the connectors can damage quite easily too).
I have a 760 with the 'cradle' and I also have a NUVI265 and now the NUVI1460 with the mini USB connected to the back of the unit and although I prefer the 'cradle', I have had no trouble with it so far. True it is a pain to have to remove the cable connector each time I remove the unit but put it this way, when one gets used to it, it becomes OK.....

Now it only has the Mini USB port - so less connectors, less problems IMHO. Go out and buy yourself the NUVI1460, I am sure you won't regret it leh!
As mentioned, I find the ability of the unit now to read any *.img file irrespective of name is a great feature, no more limits and I can put a great number of maps in one SDmicro card - fantastic. Only the gmapbmap.img can be renamed and hidden, other *.img gets read unless you remove them from /system and /map directories.... all new great features...!

Re: Nuvi 1460
Sorry Guys
Tested out my NUVI1460 this morning after updating the unit with their new ver2.40 firmware.
The case of the disappearing track on the screen is still there.... drove for about 20km, by the time the machine reached about 12km, the track started to wrap and the earlier portion disappeared.
Their specs in the 1460 no longer state the number of 'bread crumb' points but their 1350 and 1450 in the US site does mention in the write-up to be 10,000 points.
What gives man? Garmin that blind that they could not see this flaw after 2 updates in their firmware since its introduction

Re: Nuvi 1460
About the "floating screen" problem....... I find that can be solved by using your fingernail instead of your whole 2nd finger to "pull" the map.

Re: Nuvi 1460
Dear Denise
Thank you for your prompt response this round.
I do not think it is a good idea just to show just 500 points - the objective of the 10,000 points is that I go to a destination and I want to return via the same route by following the way I came. But, with only 500 points shown, I would arbitrarily say I have lost my tracks and I will not know how to go back the same way I went...........
The reason this feature is important to me is that I do regular 4x4 travels by convoys from Malaysia to countries like Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and China....
If your advertised feature says 10,000 points, it should show 10,000 points - if I do not want to show it, I can disable it.......
It is hope that the feature is back on the screen as advertised soon....
Thank you

Re: Nuvi 1460
hi all
anyone downloaded v2.40 firmware for nuvi 16460 and got some results of the new hardware? i've hold back from updating my dad's 1460 cos i'm not sure what's the new firmware update is for. if it doesn't make that much of a difference, there's no point in messing up the existing nuvi 1460.
one thing i want comment on is to commend MFM team for their fast response and their never-die atitude (someone correct my spelling pls, can't think with the antibiotics pickling my innards and brain). - they managed to make some changes so that mfm's customised POIs appear on mxm map.
to me this is indeed a good example of innovative and timely response by mfm - sure no regret i stay with mfm all this while. however i do use mxm map for the JV as my dad is driving all over msia for his business and me afraid he'd get lost but he did get lost a few times on mxm map. wondering when is the good time to wean him off JV and use mfm map totally! wish me luck
