I have follow the guide and manage to get the map into the Garmin 205W, bought in US last year, able to see Malaysia and find the address, although it is without the house number, but when I press Go, it will still go to US map and the sign on top of the screen showing aquire satelite..it take a long time, i try to move around the house and outside the house, even drive out, still cannot find the satelite, still aquiring satelite.

I read some of the posting said you can find the map in My data, for my case I cannot find any malaysian map file here instead I can see the file in the Map Info. Is this mean the map is not install properly?

Still need to figure it out how to get the satelite signal, do I need to unlock the satelite setting any where (which I cannot find any setting in the device for the satelite setting)..

For now it is still show the US map..any help will be appriciated..

step out your house and wait longer for the gps to acquire gps signal(approx 5-15 minutes).. its longer to acquire gps signal cuz the almanac from ur gps unit is still set to US. Once you get the signal lock already in malaysia, the next time you use it, it will be pretty fast for ur gps to have a lock on..

read this for your understanding of gps almanac : http://gps.about.com/od/glossary/g/GPS_Almanac.htm

can i use MFM-Garmin using Mapsource to create some place for My Garmin XT Nokia HP? YES

e.g , i just want the maps include >> Use Mapsource "Map-Tool" to select / deselect map tile to sent to your device
1. MFM NPM map +
2. MFM PRK +
3. MFM POI West Malaysia +
4. Without the polygon maps. Part of the install routine of MFM map, a dialog box will appear, just check the box to exclude polygons

can i do this??

mean, will get fast load the maps on my GMXT nokia Phone???

if compare with full maps without the polygon maps.

no any changing? still same ?? will get error?? or any problem..

anyone have test b4??

Polygons takes less memory and will improve processing time and reduce screen lagging. You have to define what you mean by error / problem. You are advise to post all errors with short description for us to authenticate and correct if valid.
thanks .. help .~

hi all,

newbie here..

i have managed to complete the portion : Creating MFM-Garmin map using MFM Garmin Map Generator

I have installed the gmapsupp.img into the SD memory card, but i couldnt see the difference in the garmin 255w map.

If i install the gmapsupp.img into the Garmin set 's memory rather than the SD memory card should i remove the data inside?

can someone enlighten me pls..

Hi
Ya manage to get the satelite now..after standing in the park for about 2 minutes.

The malsing map I generated not seem to be very good, I type in Damansara without street and house number etc, come out all the number like 11/11, 11, 12, Pusat Damansara etc..

When I drive, not sure due to my vkool, cannot receive the signal, basically I drove from cheras to pusat damansara, after i arrive, it is still aquiring satelite..but after i step out from the car and stand still for one minutes, I got the signal..
