My order on the Nuvi 1490TV finally arrived and sooner than the market is ready for it... and remains hot off the market intro for our country I dare say... :thumbsup:

Some Retailers still have none in stock but scheduled to have in at least another 5 more weeks and they are mostly Pre-Orders done as early as February.
I got mine from a new source, a commercial Retailer mainly with Corporate companies and Govt services.

The value is absolutely awesome and with Premium Maps for life being included. its one big bargain to grab without hesitation.
Look at the items that came with it...TWO antennas included and each can fetch a pricey tag on its own. The weight of the unit is rather heavy I must add... considerably heavy!!! Its loaded with lots of extras in it I guess. Will test it out tomorrow ... I'll have 3 screens for the road plus another, a 7" as well which is a touchscreen equipped with mic and built-in webcam that could also serve as a multi media and for rear-parking color camera.

Bro Cruiser, you crazy la ..... why would you want to watch TV on a Navigation device :nutz:

Increase in flexibility increases complexity
Increase in complexity decreases reliability

I would rather buy a separate unit to it. Anyway to each his own.

Did you consider the new Nuvi 3700. Spec looks good :thumbsup:

Not crazy lah....hahaaa... I'm not a TV person btw... hardly watch TV for umpteen years yoh... maybe 25 yrs already... but CNN or BBC or Planet Earth...that yes... but TV on the road...aiyah... I watch more on the cops but prefer the WaWas...aka cute chicks 2B honest... when driving and also, You tube for distraction when in long traffic jams or at the Ferry crossing...

I bought a 1TB multi media unit for the car... most ppl buy it for their homes... but still have little time to load up movies... the least priority lah... someday will gradually do it.

One good thing about this GPS cum TV unit... is the volume!!!! Finally... it can compete with the TomTom 950T... its VERY loud and what an upgrade improvement & difference to the Nuvi 650.

Btw, this 1490TV also serves rear camera for parking too... so, that is an extra asset as well and it plays FM radio channels too...in stereo but with the FM transmission available, it would save costs for those planning this other option as oppose to high end radio units installed separately.

OK... going to koon now... Where is Alfred and James or Jag, Aloysius ha?... How are they??? Hope to hear you all soon... and when R U heading this way as you said you were planning this year?

I believe and its stated in the manual too, that heated (matallized)windows/front & back windscreen, could degrade the performance of signals incl. traffic, tv/radio receptions. Both antennas need to be arranged in a perpendicular angle facing each other. This again is to increase TV reception.

Yes brudder, I have considered it too but the 1490TV was a better option as well for this very moment once I was informed of when it is made available and had also informed the same Vendor to reserve one for me as their next follow-up when their Pre-Order kicks in.
I am impressed by its 8,95mm thickness and its near realistic images provided plus the fact that it displays both portrait & landscape changes with just two fingers! It will be available just at the start of Summer so, I would anticipate it to hit the shelves by August.

The chaps are all fine; hoping they will attend the GG next month at McDonalds Kallang. I will give them a buzz to check their schedule.

Euro trip :-k ..... you may need to house my family for extended period of time if Eyjafjallajokull blows more of its top :mrgreen: :-' :lol:
