Enabling Large Icons can be done manually....

viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6444

alternatively, wait for the next release or a fix or keep using previous release.

Large icons restored & no MFM-SRTM prior installation is needed.

Well, if the audience doesn't know how to appreciate the effort that many of us are going thru, I really dunno what else to say.

The truth is that the bandwidth utilization of the weekly map downloads is sky-rocketing (notice why the MFM main site don't host map releases anymore?)...

Perhaps you can contribute a hosting service which offers unrestricted speed and bandwidth volume of >200GB per month, that will really cater to the needs of MFM weekly map releases.

200Gb of bandwidth can't serve up a month traffic, every MONDAY, the traffic for my server is upto 38Gb for yesterday, 9Hrs to the 2nd day already 14Gb, I think we need a 1Tb of bandwidth to serve up all the mfm members :frus:

Hahaha... Ya, I think you are right. 1TB of bandwidth volume in order to service all the audience...

Yes.. tanks Bro OngCC for the quick remedy. Works fine on my mapsource now!

To chaika & shawchyn, appreciate all your efforts! :prayer:

ps.. if want to upgrade server/hosting to larger bandwidth how much $$ needed?

:tq: :good: :rox:

The cost of hosting usually is not significant. It's the cost of bandwidth that's the main cash-cow for hosting providers and their telcos.

Hosting with 20Mbps or more Bandwidth Speed+1TB of bandwidth volume+reasonable disk space = est. >S$500 per month (if hosted within MY or SG).

Like for me, we are paying for about RM4K per mth for the services.... :frus:
So, all the speed is come with the price tag.

Rapidshare is almost impossible to download for "FREE" in Singapore because ISP here use transparent proxy.

To Rapidshare, every download request is like coming from a single IP with hundreds of request.
So they make you wait like 5 or 10 mins, then tells you, sorry, your IP is already downloading something.
That is extreme frustration.

The only way is to pay for Rapidshare Premium service.

Now, why would we want to pay to Rapidshare ?

I pay RS acc every year because I always download movies/music etc :P

If cost of bandwidth is so significant, may I suggest we set up a fund (donations) for this purpose. Given the high number of MFM users, I am sure most of us won't mind making a small donation to enjoy the fast download of maps. Hope someone can lead this initiative.

Actually if you analyse the number of members in MFM against the contributions/post, you will be quite shock!!!!   (data from (08/05)

Total no. of posts = 79,361
Total no. of members = 23,123
Members without any posts = 18,886
Members with only 1 post = 1,527
Members with 3 - 10 posts = 1,252
Members with 11 - 50 posts = 553
Members with 51 - 100 posts = 87
Members with 101 - 200 posts = 69
Members with 201 - 500 posts = 45 =D> =D>
Members with 501 - 1,000 posts = 18 =D> =D>
Members with 1,001 - >3,000 posts = 10 =D> =D>

I leave it to everyone to figure this out.
