I just got back from the Garmin shop in PJ to check their version for Nuvi255W. It shows v2.90 for the Mal/Sing firmware. Unfortunately, the shop owners did not know too much about the firmware to be helpful. Hope this helps.

p/s: I also cannot download the v3.00 from the web

hi all, rather surprised to find out here that there was a software v3.0 update for nuvi 255W and that it was pulled after being posted at their website.

i don't recall seeing any software update for nuvi 255W being posted there at all, but then i may be wrong.

would appreciate further update on this if information is available.

I agree with Kiattz and it also includes them not doing anything about putting the 10,000 points tracks back on to the screen. (They say only 500 points are shown yet they still advertise 10,000 points)

My machine is the Nuvi1460 and I must say this is so far the most frustrating model I have purchased from Garmin... a general screw up and it is very unfair for Garmin to sell a machine so untested and expect the user to react for updates and after several rounds, still unable to make the machine stable....

I am now on a 4X4 drive to Vietnam, Laos and Thailand from Malaysia and still here in Vietnam now... and using the Nuvi 1460 has been most unsatisfying, I would have lost our way many times without the NUVI265 which I use next to it.....

It is so far my opinion a piece of shit and the only suitable place is the rubbish bin... highly not recommended if anyone is contemplating buying the 1XXX series... until Garmin can sort out all the problems faced until now so far. (Maybe it is a training ground for new inexperienced programmers??)

I'll bet many users are unaware that they have more updates to the software in the machine if they do not go to the MyGarmin software update section which will download only after identifying the users' machine serial numbers. A most un-user friendly interface in their website too......

I pity new users who have no idea about updates!

Hi Azlan,
Your Nuvi765 is an Sg/MY localized unit, you can download and update your Nuvi manually from this page: http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/s ... areUpdate/ (On the Road > nüvi® 765 Sing/Mal Unit Software v2.30 (2009-10))

As for the maps installed, you may verify that at Tools > Settings > Map > Map Info.

Most probably the unit has been force-flashed to Sg/My firmware previously, so now it's running a different firmware and 'appears' to be an Sg/My localized unit.
