its happen cause you are using garminXT running on WinCE, actually GMXT is PDA (winMobile) version and someone 've modified to porting to PND/WinCE.
So, using GMXT winCE version is too lagging compare to "original" Garmin Nuvi. Garmin Nuvi is good and running fast on their privelege OS 'Unix' like.
Papago on PND is built on native winCE OS and more efficient coding compare to "modified" Garmin"WinMobile"XT (=GMXT WinCE version)
that's why Papago more smoothly compare to Garmin"WinCE"XT running in same PND

I hope its more clear for you..

For Garmin you can get World wide coverage for maps most of the time/places.... Papaga.... Good luck! A GPS is a Global thing... don't be short sighted when you buy your 1st unit unless you plan to stay home forever...

The JCV thing.... you only hear half the story... Garmin supply JCV local maps too. Google it!...but, be warn of the quality of the Garmin JCV map (comparatively speaking).

Hope this helps.... Cheers!
