Routing to Botanic Gardens Car Park Penang will actually prompt you into Moon Gate Trail. This road does not seem accessible to cars. In fact while driving, I could not find this trail. Turning according to the directions given actually takes me into a Hindu Temple. From there I can see a trail, I think its the Moon Gate Trail. But looks accessible by foot only.

Due to adverse weather can't really check out if the trail actually takes you to the car park though.

I second this. It happened to me as well when going to Botanic garden car park on Monday. Also when going from BM to Butterworth ferry terminal, it route me thru the ferry terminal to Penang Weld Quey and back again to arrive at the terminal. Of course, I simply just ignore the directions given
