This is my stands:

1. I agree that the map source (the.mp files) belong to the mapper
2. The tracklogs, feedback etc, belong to who ever did the tracking etc.
3. Any feedback at MSM should remain in MSM unless the owner post it here (try to avoid any conflic between MSM & MFM as we are all freinds)
4. While I agree that map data belong to mappers, I do believe when Adil said
adilothman wrote:But the mapsets that was helped built by this massive community remain and will remain here. There is no issue of anyone taking away and depriving the community of what has been created by the community through all these years. The mapsets would not be what they are today without the community's input and they can't be taken away.

so, hopefuly some compromise can be reached (i can only hope)
5. I will contribute here and MSM depending on which area is lacking in which map (the good side is there are a lot of area now for both site)

Now, this is the reality,

All this while the map is free and some mappers have publicly declare it (I know Antyong did), there are a lot of circumstances that can go beyond the mappers control or mappers may back track from what they said etc.

Do I trust the mappers (both MSM & MFM), yes, I do but am I willing to put my money...That is a different matter.

So my motto is "be prepared". Should any of the site (MSM or MFM) decided that the map is not free anymore or things went beyond the mappers control (IP is part of the deceased properties and will go to the next of kin or something like that), I can have an altenative.

This is my stand.

Noted your stand. Just one thing which is quite misleading..

Adil was implying the our maps were built under Malsingmaps to support his argument that map source has to be left behind. The more veteren VCs, from whom the bulk of the map data came from, will know that we had been mapping under GPSMappers.net for almost 2 years. GPSMappers.net used to be our mapping community and Malsingmaps.com the user community. It is until recently that jmleng and I decided to merge the 2 communities together again. We did not even think of asking what is not ours. We are fine with re-mapping again :)

The critical issue is regarding licensing of maps. Our maps are the products of countless hours hard work over 3 years. Our stand is no one use our maps for licensing. Adil's philosophy is to bring more benefit to the community through proceeds from licensing. If he is continuing with our maps, he will not be able to license as it is against the explicit wish of those who created the original data. The cleanest way is still to cut the ties and re-map. With such "massive" community, I am sure MSM will have no problem with such undertaking.

"Our stand is no one use our maps for licensing"

I agree of that. But, what happen if "someone" else reverse engineering the free map, either from MSM or MFM? Can MSM or MFM got the right to "sue" that guy?

Yes, MSM can do it and so do MFM. It just that I'm a bit sad with all this things. Never mind lah, tracking will solve it all.

To all members of MSM & MFM, there are a lot of area that need to be tracked now. Happy tracking.

For me, I don't intend to resign my post from either one and I will continue to do my best to deserve both communities without fear or favour. Afterall, we are doing good for the GPS communities regardless of the forum we are affiliated to.

Hope that will not get filtered. I think the reason behind filtering this site's URL is the top afraid that the members will not continue to contribute to MSM.

Bro doraemon,

The URL Picture was created by one the members here. I CURI and use.

Better Thank him before he tembak me.

Sure I will service both community.

Our map being developed based on submission for the past years. Is our map data for KL-R; NPM-R; PRK-R; EPM-R left behind in MSM and let them continue the respected areas developments?
