How to install Garmin MapSource for the First Time

Hi Silver Beauty,

After i done this step (Download Mapsource Recommended Old version 6.13.7 via below link

I run the "MapSource_6137" file.
It prompts out error msg as below:





I cannot run the Installation File.
Even the 1st step i cannot make. Anything that i've done wrong here?

Try to use bro luv_yen360 method instead. also as bro silverbeauty instructions, download and install the mfm maps 1st before running mapsource. BTW what is your OS?

What i did;
1. Download mapsourse.
2. Use winrar to extract the exe file.
3. Find main.msi file & setup.exe
4. Install main.msi
5. Install setup.exe

Im using Windows 7 (64-bit)
Pls try to look at btm pictures.
I successfully open the EXE File of "MapSource_6137" and run the MSMAIN.msi
but it prompts out the error msg as given in 2nd pic.
Help pls.

Extract the folders/files first ("Extract to" command), and then only install from the extracted file, ie. do not open EXE within WinRAR.

I am on Win7 on a HP lappy. No problems encountered as you did. I even have 2 versions Mapsource running in my lappy

You need to unzip Disk 1.cab

Yup, i've successfully extracted the Disk1 file and install MSMAIN.msi as pic below.
Now, im looking for info to update my Garmin Nuvi710 to the latest map.
How do i do that?

When you install MFM installer, the first part is where you install MFM mapset for Mapsource. Next there will be an option to generate GMAPSUPP.IMG. This is a ready-to-use Garmin detailed map for device. If you have a previous version of MFM map, you need to replace the IMG in device/data card with this GMAPSUPP.IMG. I had do the first step..

then I've tried to install Mapsource, but I keep getting the msg Previous mapsource not installed, setup will terminate.

how should i solve it? thanks.
