Converting Nuvi 2x5W Firmware to MAL/SIN Firmware

Does this upgrade works for european maps and will i be able to download the dutch or flemish language also ?

Any IMG map for any region should work just fine with this firmware. However as for the european voice files, only Greek voice file is supported. BTW I would not refer this procedure as an upgrade.

Non-TTS voice can be edited manually but takes a lot of work.

I just bought Nuvi 255w+ with CHN V3.3 firmware
Board is s3 and HID is 931 , to be able to use TSM JCV is it possible to flash it to MAL/SIN firmware?

Was trying to do it but hit a snag.
in step

5. Slide and HOLD the Power Button of the Nuvi, then quickly plug in the USB cable to
connect to the computer. (Continue to hold the power button).

when i plugged in the USB, the updater do not have any effect(can't get the USB device). Can't get to the next step. any ideas? Anyone had this problem in the other forum?

I have a 205W, US model bought from Amazon.com

I checked my mainboard version inside the diagnosis mode , it gives me this :

SW ver 6.40 nuvi 2W series S4_R3 V4 2GB

Is it confirmed my 205W comes with mainboard S4 ? If yes, is it no where i can use the guide here as i am going to get white screen ?

If that is true , it is no where i can use Junction view here


Any solution for 205W S4 ?

I am thinking of purchasing a 255w not a sg/my version, but flash the firmware to the sg/my.

however i am confused over few things.

1. After i completed the flashing, which map should i install to have the jv functions ?, can i download directly from garmin website even mine is not a sg/my version ?

2. If i install MSM, it will ask the serial number to unlock the map, will my device from other region will generate the unlock code for the map ?

1. msm nt 2010.20 map. btw, they will be having a new nt 2010.30 soon.

2. yes it will be able to after u install sg/my firmware.
