I visited Garmin website, they have one accessory call Portable Friction Mount which suitable for Nuvi series. I don't know whether anyone of you have try it before? any feedback after using it?

I faced the similar problem on my Nuvi 650 whenever using the windscreen mount. Finally bought Garmin portable friction mount which has solved the problem and become the main usage. It's also very flexible to move the mount from one car to another. It was purchased through Amazon.com online when I was on a trip in US.

Managed to get one today. Try it and feel that very useful. Easy to view during navigation. Only concern, is using under the hot sun, the screen looks not so clear.

The splash screen picture in-use, is stored in a non-volatile memory location independent of the unit’s firmware. The loading of a “customized” JPEG picture as a new splash screen (allowed in firmware v3.10 and later) transfers the user-selected image from a PC-visible folder (internal storage or Memory Card) to this inaccessible memory location OVERWRITTING any image previously stored in there. Too bad, the JPG file used for splash screen cannot be accessed through pc-usb connection,

Be aware that if you change the original splash screen, you can not get it back since you are erasing it from memory when you load another screen.

Check your menu to see if you have the option to change the "Splash Screen". On Nuvi 300 / 600 series we can change the "splash" screen with own loaded JPEG files images in a directory /JPEG.
