Full Customisation For Mapsource only / Click this >>> Custom Polygons & POIs Map for device
If I want to use the map for BaseCamp (the new software that came with Oregon) and also for the GPS, does that mean I need to install twice?
Thank for the reply.

No, only 1 installation is necessary. The first part will install the mapset for use with Mapsource, BaseCamp, etc. and the second part will generate GMAPSUPP.IMG which is the ready-to-use detailed map for Garmin devices.

Re: MFM-Garmin Installation Step by Step Guide
P/S: Garmin 1xxx series the "gmapsupp.img" can be change to any names as you like and put in your's device drive {"F:" or "G:"} "Map" folder. FYI don't put 2 same map with difference name, it will hang and PC can't re-connect it agian

Help, as a newbie I got this seriously wrong, and I put the latest MFM map with different name (gmapsuppAug10.img) into the same Map folder as the older MFM gmapsupp.img.
As said above, the device (Garmin 1300 series) will hang, and I can't access it from the PC.
Looks like I've completely bricked my device through my own foolishness.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to recover from this?

Panic over...
I got this sorted after doing a master reset, and it let me connect to the PC again to delete one of the files.

We always recommend to put maps into SD card and not main memory. In this way all you do is remove SD card and not experience what you did
Re: MFM-Garmin Installation Step by Step Guide
Hello,
Sorry, I am a little confused.
According to the first reply:
Does this mean I should select "Custom Polygons" at the first screen (see attachment) because I want to put the map onto my GPS?
But then the second reply says differently:
Does this mean I should select "Full Customisation" at the first screen instead?
The three options:
Full Customisation. (mouseover text: Recommended for 60CSx, 76CSx & eTrex)
Custom Polygon & POI. (mouseover text: Recommended for Nuvi & MXT)
Default. (mouseover text: No Customisation)
Does this mean I should pick Full Customisation, because my GPS is Garmin Oregon 450, which I think is closer to the 60Csx than to the Nuvi's? Or am I mistaken?

The first one is for Mapsource installation, as long as you do not send maps using Mapsource, the setting here does not reflect the map generated for device (second part of installation).

You should either select Full Customization or Custom Polygon & POI, the only difference is the thickness of roads displayed in the Orgeon (Full = roads with thick borders, producing somewhat narrower roads, Custom Polygon & POI = roads w/out thick borders, thicker roads). You can actually view the difference already if you select between those 2 at the map generator.

Hi, this is my first attempt in updating the maps in my nuvi 255W. had been driving around with old maps for so long. Before updating, when i clink the satellite signal bars, the number of satellites wil blink as my gps trying to log onto it. But now, it hardly lock onto 3 and no more blinking of the satellites on the graphic. Wonder what happen? need some help here.
thank you

It's called cool start-up, Sometime you need longer time to warm up for locating satelite, and make sure you are in the open area and clear sky..
