bro tlchuan,
that's great to hear. i'll try to update it tonight. thanks.
bro silverbeauty,
i wrote to the garmin distributor (localised units) about british emily dissapearing after v2.60 software update for nuvi 1460 and i was advised that as long as our model is garmin's nuvi's model (irrespective of bought here or overseas), the owner can download the latest voice files from www.garmin.com using webupdater. i did as advised and got back british emily as well as downloaded several other english-speaking tts voices as well.
the only headache i encountered is
1) the TTS voice cracks-
2) signal reception / logon upon unit switching on is really slooooowww....more than a 5 mins. prior to the update, it will get a signal within 1 minute or so.
for me, i'm taking my unit back to the distributor for them to resolve the problems i encountered in my nuvi 1460.
however it is good to share here at the forum.

hi all,
just wish to share. i wrote earlier that i encountered some problems with my dad's nuvi 1460 when i updated it to the latest firmware. and i too encountered the same problems with my nuvi 255W when i updated it to the latest firmware.
i sent both units back to the distributor for them to check/service/repair.
they have rectify the problems for both of my units which i received today, both are in good working order. i'm rather pleased with aeco's service and assistance to help rectify my problems so quickly.
what happened was nothing to do with the firmware updates. it has to do with my home pc being infiltrated by some virus/malwares (which i was unware even though i have avg antivirus on). these malwares corrupted all the files in both pnds causing them to be update incorrectly thus leading to the problems i encountered.
all is well - all that's well ends well!

What Garmin unit do you have? You need GPSmap or Firmware? This thread is for firmware and if you're looking for maps please goto the map section.

Re: Garmin Firmware Updates
He's looking for the latest firmware for Garmin GPSMAP 2008 chartplotter.
@BlueOceanGuy, if your unit's Part Number is: 010-00740-00 (aka SG version), latest firmware is currently at v3.20.: http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/s ... areUpdate/
Note: If you're not sure of your unit's locale, you can verify your unit's version by entering unit's serial at the link somewhere at the top right corner (labeled as Check your unit's version).

Re: Garmin Firmware Updates
Actully garmin has designed the new version firmware V2.0 specially for INDIA. the main problem with that gps is that, that garmin has removed Fishing Chart from the GPSmap 2008. and in the version v2.9 the fishing chart is available.
so if anyone can help me update the firmware from V2.0 to V2.9 will be very helpful. one more thing is that when i try to update using v3.10 or v3.20 the update settings show that there are no updates available.
