Thank you.

Dear oxford,
Are u sure that u successful copy gmapsupp.img to your device?
Please check Tools>Setting>Map>Info, make sure MFM-Garmin XXX listed there, if yes, check it and uncheck other maps if there.

Dear sakura,

It was not listed in the Map info. I have just realized that I had placed the img file in the wrong folder "Garmin". The problem is fixed now after I placed it at Map. Thanks again sakura for the extremely fast respond and MFM.

I facing the same problem. But the map file file should be place in "Garmin" folder rite? why put it in "map" folder?

Bro tigersee, it depends on which generation Nuvi you have.

The newer models 1XXX, series upwards does not restrict "name" of Garmin compatible maps to gmapsupp.img. You can put any name you like in the /map directory.

I am new to customizing my GPS.
I am using a Nuvi 205w. I have name MFM img map file as gmapprom1.img in my SD card.
When I start up the GPS, it crashed and now I can't even reconnect to my PC.
I then realized that maybe I should not put 2 maps with same name, or 2 same maps with different names. It will hang and PC can't re-connect it again.

What can I do to re-connect my GPS. Appreciate any help and advice.

Try removing the card and connect to PC.

I intend to use only West Malaysia and Singapore maps and have taken 21 maps. Can I delete those indicated by the green arrows which are:

1 MFM EPM
2 MFM NPM
3 MFM PRK
4 MFM SRTM 10Mm Contours (N)
5 MFM SRTM 10m Contours (S)

or do I use all the 21 maps?

Would appreciate if you can also let me know what the initials stand for.

Many thanks in advance.

You will need all these 20 tiles to generate the map for West Malaysia and Singapore (minus the polygon tiles if you would like to exclude them).

MFM EPM - East Peninsular Malaysia map (Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan)
MFM JHR - Johor map
MFM NPM - North Peninsular Malaysia map (Penang, Kedah, Perlis)
MFM PRK - Perak map
SG - Singapore
MFM-SRTM - Topo map

I'd guess the rest is self-explanatory.

Bro dvpro - thank you very much for the info and clarification. Since I have 21 maps, and required to use 20 maps, I guess that I can safely take off MFM-SRTM - Topo map? Or perhaps, just leave all those alone (all 21 of them)?

Many thanks once again :)

You're welcome.

With MFM-SRTM included, you need 22 map tiles in total: 8 MFM routable maps + 8 MFM polygon maps + 2 MFM POI maps + 1 MFM Business POI map + 1 Singapore Postal code map + 2 MFM-SRTM maps.

FYI, MFM-SRTM is a very simple topo map with colorful polygons depicting higher ground from 500m to 2000m (in 200m-300m intervals).
