I have a Desire too (on cooked ROMs) and the way I did it - just rename the extracted MFM map to "Malaysia" and then use this to replace the Papago map in my SD card. As for the clapping sound, you can't get rid of this if you are on Android Froyo 2.2 - unless you are on one of the cooked Desire HD ROMs.

Edited: typo error.

ERROR:
Can not open map!
....Force close.

Still unsuccessful even when i replace all files started with R51_ from previous map with all files started with R21_ from latest map, quite complicating huh!

Thanks anyway.

The latest MFM map files should all be R51... not R21. Are you sure you downloaded the correct version? As I said earlier, after extracting the MFM map, you should get a folder called "MFM-PPG-101201C" under Navi/Maps. Rename this "MFM-PPG-101201C" to "Malaysia" and use it to replace the similarly named folder in your SD. It should work then.

FINALLY!
Managed to see "MFM-PPG Version 1-12-10" in my Map Version selections.
To be evaluated from time to time.

Many thanks & really appreciate it.

Hi zamad,
It's just that I made a mistake between the R51_files and R21_files actually.
Btw, how's the performance of Garmin on A10? And the PPG X5 on A10? Please share...
Do you think about PPG M7v1 and MFM-PPG 1-12-10 works on my Desire Froyo?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, sometimes you can get mixed up with the numbers.

I've put the A10 running Garmin and Papago maps side-by-side during my runs. The Garmin map display on the A10 is the worst of the 3 Garmin PND that I have in terms of POI display. You hardly see any... not good at all if you want to contribute new POIs. The Papago X5 on the A10 displays much more POIs.

The X5 doesn't have 'Trip Log' feature like the Garmin. This is useful for tracking 'Taman's' where you want to optimise your routes and not to do too many repeats.

Re: papago X5 software

Postby gawanco » Tue Dec 21, 2010 4:17 pm

I've Papago installed with X5 map (Malfreemap). Can any one tell me how does the Address Search work. The search engine returns none found with most addresses (old and new) I input. Is there any one out there have a copy of user instruction manual on how to correctly input the address in order for the software to recognise my address search.

Thanks

PPG X5 for Andriod support multiple map. depend on whether you install in SD card or internal memory, just create additional folders under navi\Maps\xxx , for different location map.

I went to Maction website downloaded HK, MY, Indonesia maps to PC, plus MfM PPG customised map into internal memory of my Galaxy Tab. TO switch map, fo to menu, 2nd page, setting, scroll to the end, tab the map info and select from there

1 program, multiple maps

When I had Android 2.2 (Froyo) on my Desire, I would get the "clapping" problem when X5 was in voice navigation. I am now on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and the "clapping" problem is gone.
