1. Are you installing the MFM map in SD Micro Card? - Yes
2. Before installing the latest map, did you delete the old MFM map into Trash & Empty Recycle Bin? - Yes By right the old map should be deleted first before you copy the new MFM map into the SD Micro Card. Make sure you don't have 2 maps in the same Maps folder. - Yes deleted all old files. I have been doing this for years - problem is this Nuvi 3970's software I think. Why old map can new cannot?

Thought it was the SD card, replaced it still same problem.

Are you using Windows 7 64 bit by any chance? I am. I found that if you safely remove the gps, the file got "undeleted" and the new file you copied was lost. So after copy is completed I wait a few minutes and just unplug the GPS.

Dangeerous I know but that's what I've been doing. I am using SG/MY 3790 and I updated to the latest map without any problem.

Guys,

Thank you for all of your help. I think I resolved it.

I am using Windows 7 64bit. I fully formatted ( not quick format) the microSD card. Copied the latest MFM map to it and presto! it worked. I had another microSD card with the same problem. This time I checked Win 7 to show all hidden files. There were a few on the SD card. I deleted all files and copied MFM and presto it also worked. I feel so small and foolish not to have considered this in the first place. Mind you that both these cards are new with nothing but MFM files on them. Some where along the line, some files were created (by Windows during copying I think) preventing it from working not sure why it happened though.

I have another issue with regards to POIs. My Nuvi 3970 doesn't show the POI symbols even though under map view the MFM-POI is ticked. My Nuvi 765T shows everything- no problem. Does anybody know how to overcome this?

Finally, thanks once again to all of you who pitched in to help especially Silverbeauty for his prompt and dedicated assistance over the past few days. Cheers!

Excellent ending and resolve and great to know yr 3790 is now about to serve well as expected.

All the best after the POIs are taken care of too... will there be a special POI set for a gathering and some rounds of booze?...

Hi Ganthan, glad you resolved it. Sometimes the solution is very basic but not to worry.

As to the display of POI, this is a known problem. Garmin may have intentionally suppress the display of POI in the newer generation of Nuvis to prevent screen clutter.

Perhaps in Singapore and Malaysia where many fancy/prefer seeing all them POIs displayed too but I sure loath seeing them on the screen. :ko:

Sounds awesome too... Booze and good sea food... should do ...

Bro Silverbeauty,

Nice to hear from you. Point noted. Thanks.

Bro Cruiser,

Agree with you on this issue, not too fond of them either , can be irritating at times when POIs obscure the routes you want to take.

Cheers!

Guys... need your input on one isome I'm facing...

When I install MFM-Garmin-110117 with Polygons ON, I'm able to see roads & polygons no problem. All this while I've been navigating using this map.
However, when I install the latest MFM-Garmin-110207 with Polygons ON, I'm now NOT able to see the roads anymore... all covered by the polygons.
So now in order to use the latest MFM-Garmin-110207 I have to set Polygons OFF & only then I can see the roads.... but no polygons.
Was there any difference the way the latest map was generated?

Also another issue I just noticed, when route is showing arrow to left junction, the Voice keep on saying 'Turn Right' repetitively. So far this only occurred once last week.

Hope someone can help shed some light. Cheers...

BTW, mine is a Garmin Nuvi3790 SG/MY

Bro we need problem reporting with data on location where it happens. Without this we are blind and cannot comment ](*,)

During that time like in June, which I assume most are not on holidays, but I am, planning in mid June will be smashing for a GG gathering... Just arrange with brudder SB for he is usually involved and can lobby/rally participants to check/chip in for a boozy time...
