Hi,
Mine just went bust and looking for a replacement unit. I am thinking of getting another garmin unit but not sure which to get. As for the feature, if equivalent to 205w is fine with me. Any model would you recommend? Most important, can I download the map from mfm? I worry some garmin gps cannot use mfm updated map as it is not compatible.
Thanks all.

The price for 1350 has dropped below 255W. 1250 is the 'replacement' for 205 and is even cheaper. There is a big sale at the PC Fair in several locations in Malaysia from March 4-6.

Re: replacement for 205w
Thanks for your input but when I viewed the feedback from this forum, the 1xxx series is not so user friendly compared to the old models like 2xx series. BTW, how much is 255w selling for? and can I view mfm POI on 255w?

User friendly is relative to the operator of the Nuvi. The 1xxx series user menu does not differ greatly from the older models.
1xxx series have advantage in that user can load maps up to limit of SD card and in any name they want to unlike the older models which is restricted to specific map file names.
POI restriction was implemented by Garmin lately so as not to clog the display with icons.
If you want to view POI, get the older 6xx, 7xx series whose firmware allows display of all POI...

This is not exactly true as I believe it has been Garmin's policy not to display POIs during navigation. This was evident even during 2xx days. My USA N200 model could not display POIs during navigation. I was given to understand that this was a safety consideration and ALL USA models do not display POIs during navigation.
Only Asian models were the exception because their Asian customers insisted on seeing a lot of POIs and colourful polygons. I suppose Garmin relented in order to grow their Asian biz. Now they have apparently applied the same restriction to all the new models even for Asia which could mean that their Asian biz is now mature so there is no need to make an exception.

Bro JasonLee, I stand corrected.

Re: replacement for 205w
thanks. in that case 255w can be an option if I want to view POI while navigating or driving in 3D mode?
Re: replacement for 205w
I upgraded from a 205 to 1460 yesterday and boy... the 1460 has plenty of useful features. Plus, it is even cheaper than the 205 (cost over RM 900) at RM 790 plus freebies such as friction mount stand, screen protector (kinda useless), SE Asia NT 6.01 maps on SD and leather case (non official Garmin).
The 205 will go to my mom instead.
