The X8 map is meant for Papago new X8 release. It will only work with X8 version 8.5 onward. Don't waste time to try until you get your software upgraded to X8 version 8.5. :ko: :ko: :ko:

PPG version : Papago X8.5 Build:Jul 8 2011
Brand/Model: R6300T
Feedback :
From Simpang Ampat, Penang to Tanah Merah, Kelantan, the route suggested was going all the way down to KL, then through Karak to Kuantan and all the way up to destination.

The original MFM PPG version 01-6-11 that came with the unit shows proper way through East-West highway, but suggesting route through Baling at 5°38'66''N 100°49'34''E instead of new highway (Jalan Baling-Grik K173) by-passing Baling town. Ignoring it, it will re-route through K173 until 5°33'40''N 100°53'13''E, then asked you to go back (u-turn). Looks like it was lost between this point until about 7 km later. Then the route continue.

On the way back from Tanah Merah to Penang, your new MAP 110823 will suggest the route through Cameron Highland, taking left turn at Jeli 5°42'26''N 101°50'38''E after driving along Road 4 from Tanah Merah.

The original map was correct for using Road 4 all the way until junction at 5°27'32''N 101°8'14''E. It suggest right turn using old road through Baling instead of using new Jalan Baling-Gerik (which should be a proper path), kept insisting a u-turn after passing the junction.

Sorry for no proper tracking. Draft this feedback with help of Google Earth and memory recollection.

Best regards,
Capt Zot

For the US Embassy in KL, it's listed as "USA Embassy" in the MfM map. (Search POIs, don't Search by Address)

I've checked with mapsource and My Garmin Nuvi 255W, there's no problem about routing as you mentioned in MFM-Garmin Maps, maybe Papago Map only.
Hope Bro sunn will take a look at this problem.

Thanks for the feedback. I should've brought along my other Eastgear Holux 62E running X3 so that I didn't have to switch between map and have proper track log.

I also observed that the original map (MFM Jun) that comes with my R6300T display less detail as compared to my Holux; like no rivers shown when I passed over them from Penang to Sungai Petani. I guess this is Papago's way of making unit respond faster (???).

Also during my trip to Tanah Merah from Penang, when I passed over the first Banding Bridge (West side of Banding Island); the map just showed I was passing over "green" land. On the other bridge after Banding Island, the right side of the bridge is "green" land and on the left of the bridge was water.

Actually this lake should be shown in Blue, maybe there was some error during conversion from Garmin to Papago Map and it did not detecting blue polygon colour ( for lakes ) and automatically papago will assume it's land area because green is default colour ( for non polygon area ).

Looks like it is not the compile error from Garmin to Papago. My brother was on the same route with the latest Aug map using Nuvi noticed the same thing. Maybe the source itself was already corrupted.

How interesting.....
