I don't use other maps so I can't compare with mfm.

- Garmin 1490T
- No POI icon, just a s little square box
- On some roads I disobey the routing, it goes into a loop, it keeps repeating turn left, turn left...turn left...when I turned right. Further away from the decision pt, sometimes it go back to normal. Sometimes I have to reboot it.
- Sometimes, the whole gps just hanged at certain roads.
- Recalculation is too fast. When I drive from Changi Rd into blk 848 Sims Ave towards 842, it started recalculating, I dunno why

Maybe due to signal loss bcoz of the high blocks.

Just my 1c cents comment. NO JCV and Lane Assist is more to do with MFM compiler rather than unit do not support. Also got to do with localized vs non-localized version Nuvi. :-'

3790
no polygon
strange "alien-ghostly" voice intermittently sounds during routing ...
touchscreen at times very slow to respond to touch
unlike older generation devices cannot save new POI ( to favorite ) by touching screen

Hi TS, sorry to hijack ur thread. But I think others might face similar problem as me n might benefit from replies here as well.

Here is my case.
I owned a nokia 5800 n I use garmin xt on it.
- small screen, laggy at times, can be unreliable at times as well. (reboot the phone will solve it)
- support the awesome MFM POI

Then I bought 255w
- Good battery life
- support the awesome MFM POI

Then I bought 1490t
- still acceptable battery life
- no POI ](*,)

So I planning to sell 1490t n buy a new gps that can support the awesome MFM POI
Any suggestion? Hopefully is below rm800

bro aba9785,

The newer nuvi's does not show enough POIs while navigating. Since you already own the 255W, use it. The only issue with this model is that it has a slower processor, hence it sometimes lag. Other than that, you can see most POIs on it.

well, will be giving 255w to brother in law. so i m left with 1490t, not so happy with this model.

still prefer garmin over papago. but if really cant find good 255w alternative, then might switch [-o<

i bought the 1460 for my dad two years back (i think - lost track of time already - getting old :( )

however right from the start, could see MFM's POI icons on the navigation map (some only) while other POI icons can be seen but required further zooming in (since 1460 has auto-zooming).

don't notice much changes to that though. further software updates rectified the touch screen issue

oh, while on this subject, i finally found out having a screen protector on the 1460 contributed to touch-screen sensitivity issue - too sensitive because the screen protector makes the screen. after removing the screen protectors from both our 255W and 1460, touch sensitivity/receptiveness improved quite a bit.
