The question everyone wants to ask is, IF someone with a high command post in MFM is being PAID to moderate all this.

Rumours have said that they/he has been receiving monthly allowances for all the effort that has been put in to ensure that the BRAND has full control here. They/he have also been WINE AND DINE, ANGPOH during festive holidays and even flew to Taiwan, Europe etc on the expenses of the said BRAND.

There is no other reason I could think of other then the above, which is WHY MFM MOTTO is no longer about its users community BUT everything that has been done here now is for the benefit of the mention BRAND!!!

And the worst part now happening in MFM is, due to all this, it is falling apart, many mappers do not agree to the undertaking the person has committed with the said BRAND.

MFM was split from MSM due to their differences, and has been setup by its founder to provide community maps for all its community members. Not for PROFIT, No question was ever ask or rules set that only units supplied by XXX Company can use its Garmin Maps.

Perhaps it is time again for those who support the Original MFM founder vision of FREE COMMUNITY MAPS to relook if it is time to move on, to another place where the directions of community is once again the motto and vision of community mapping.

Let’s not be in the MERCY of those who lead for the mean of profiting from the community. Boycott them.

With your answer, I don't really know who to believe or rather what's the actual situation going on with MFM.

To make things clear, I've few questions:
1. Can MFM still publish monthly update for x3/5/7/Reality without having grant permission from MACTION?
2. Can MFM totally dis-associate itself from MACTION or M3(we don't want bussinessman to dictate the situation)?
3. If x8 need a compiler from MACTION with exsisting condition(to compile only for x8 and not others), can MFM refrain itself from taking it up? This might mean that MFM might not have the capability for x8 but still continue with x3/5/7/Reality. This is not to involve MFM with MACTION as you mentioned. Is MFM willing to go that direction?

You are the only senior member involved in map compilation that has stood up and clarified that you are not being paid.

Sadly, the others have chosen to stay silent which does not auger well for their reputation and for the reputation of MFM. It is very clear that you are not the one who is compiling the PAPAGO maps from the map releases and statements on PAPAGO maps.

While I fully agree that MFM is and never should be involved in the software side of the business according to the motto and regulations, the question still remains, “why does MFM want to be involved with a business entity that does not follow the rules and regulations of the community?”

The original spirit of the compilation was done to benefit the community at large. However this has sadly been changed since the business entity (PAPAGO) has at their whim and fancy changed the “terms and conditions”.

When I read the “notice” posted by bro Sunn, it stated that Maction “requests” MFM to cease compiling for older versions, it didn’t demand for MFM to stop. That means MFM has the power to decide whether to continue or not the compilation.

MFM should have stood its ground and to her motto and rules and regulations and reject PAPAGO “request” as the reasons are purely commercial in nature which and as you have stated “we do not and will not involve into their business.” I believe that PAPAGO would have agreed to continue support for the older version if MFM stood on her mottos as it is PAPAGO that needs MFM.

The lack of discussion and consensus with the community on the decision MFM took has no doubt sparked off the unnecessary debate about impartiality and biasness towards PAPAGO and also question if some members are under pay roll of those who control PAPAGO. You cannot blame members of this community from being suspicious.

It is hence timely that MFM relook into her roots and foundations of the formation of this very community lest more discontentment brew within.

Mr OngCC, one very simple question, why did MFM choose to ignore the MFM MOTTO that the original foundation MFM was setup for?

We know you are not the one involve with MACTION PAPAGO base on the map release and statement issue on PAPAGO Software or Maps in the forums. I salute you for your straight frank and forwardness to answer this issue in this short time.

We/I would hope that this issue can be clarified by the said person who has broker this deal. Did he take in consideration of the MFM Original MOTTO when he agrees to all the terms and condition of MACTION???

Or the Deal was Broker base on the numerous overseas trips and gifts that shower upon him. Tell us that We/I am/are wrong, he did not go for all this incentive trips and nor did he receive all those goodies. Tell us frankly, are you under the threat or anyone that wanted to get his lawyer to sure you and your family if you do not obey them/him?

Just look at the banners put up at this year gathering, it look like a PAPAGO sponsors event. Someone really knows how to put in the effort to please them here.

Saya lihat, walau kebenaran atau bukti sudah diberi sekali pun, masih ada juga yang hendak menyangkal yang mungkin berkepentingan kepada mereka (sebab mereka pun berfikiran begitu). Masalah ini bukan untuk penjual barang 'hacked', masalah ini adalah kepada pengguna yang majoritinya saya lihat disini menggunakan barangan asli/tulen. Kita lihat dari mula... tujuan penubuhan halaman ini. Untuk memberikan khidmat update map secara percuma yang disertai oleh mapper yang mempunyai hati yang ikhlas dan murni. Sekiranya pihak luar tiada berkepentingan disini dan sekiranya pihak disini tiada berkepentingan dengan pihak luar, kenapa perlu ikut telunjuk mereka. Anda adalah pihak bebas yang tiada bersangkut paut dengan mereka. Siapa kata kami tidak berbesar hati diatas keikhlasan dan kesungguhan pihak disini yang sanggup mengeluarkan update map setiap bulan tanpa sebarang imbuhan/bayaran. Bukan semua orang yang ada hati budi sebegini.

dont know who to believe, but reading till page11 of this thread, so far lesterdavid has presented some points that you (or anyone on behalf of mfm) couldnt rebuke and so i believe most forumers should be on lesterdavid's side.

did anyone in this thread, up to now ever mention anything about requesting MFM to influence Maction's decision on their older software support? NO, then why you answered something no one asked? which is off-topic, same as involvement in maction's business, you have gone off-topic, may be evading the points raised by lesterdavid.

come on, reveal the agreement if mfm is innocent, and answer lesterdavid's points, he really counters the point brilliantly:

1. MFM compiles its map for Papago software using original software licensed from M3GPS (or Maction).
The original mfm Papago map is compiled by mfm founder using a compiler not issue by M3. The original agreement by mfm founder for compiling of mfm Papago maps is allowing anyone who owned a Papago licence software device to use the mfm maps and not limiting to only M3 devices.

some of the community is asking for a TOTAL STOP OF COMPILATION OF PAPAGO MAPS until a satisfactory reason is given.

why should MFM be under the control of PAPAGO + others?
