Until solar panels pricing goes down, the ROI is too long to justify for residential properties

I think we stick to water heater....mine rosak already.....only cold water come out.Hot water cannot come out....

Yes, The return on investment is too long. First, the solar panels are too expensive, second you need deep discharge capable batteries to store the energy generated during the day time. This is also expensive. The government should step in to reduce tax and promote green energy. Then we don't have to buy electricity from LLN. Unless you are a serious hobbyist with plenty of money it is very costly...for the time being.

Was using solar power on a small scale for about a year already.
Powering my emergency communication equipment , batteries chargers for charging most of my rechargeable batteries to be use in flashlights , night lights and all other device that can run on battery power. The only water heater I am using in my system consumes about 10 ampere of current . Just to give an idea of the consumption of electricity , the small water heater stated as 120 watts and takes about half an hour just to boil one cup of water enough for my "sunny day only" coffee.
Pity me for not being in the group of "serious hobbyist with plenty of money " but just playing my part in protecting Mother Earth.
Remember it`s EARTH HOUR 2012 tonite.

there is a feed-in-tariff scheme in operation now in malaysia where an consumer can invest in generating electricity using renewable sources and feed electricity to the electrical generating authority. in turn, the authority buys the electricity at a price which includes your investment cost. read more here

Only missing data is what is the cost of ownership. They talk about making money but nothing about cost to maintain the very expensive deep discharge battery over a period of time.
