I was in KL earlier this week and used M8 with the latest MFM. From my recollection, this M8 functions just like my old X5; did not notice anything new. Hopefully I am wrong.
I used it to navigate from Ampang Rd (somewhere close to Jelatek) to MidValley. Looks like the navigation algorithm is just as bad as X5 - it took me to a elevated highway, then down back to Tun Razak and then the scary part, it took me through the heart of KL, near Pudu Rd, and Petaling St.... through horrendous traffic. I eventually switched it off and turned on Sygic which eventually took me to MidValley.
I am not familiar with the KL roads anymore, especially the many new expressways. But from Ampang Rd to Mid Valley, I would normally take Tun Razak and then go via Loke Yew/Syed Putra; or alternatively via Jalan Kuching to Bangsar Rd. I would never go thru the heart of KL!
When I got back to Spore I went into Mapsource and did a route from Ampang to MidValley; to my surprise it also routed thru Pudu/Petaling St, altho the route is more direct than that made by M8.
After I abandoned M8, I used Sygic for the rest of my stay in KL. Surprisingly Sygic is pretty good; not as good as Garmin/MFM, but it did a decent job in navigating me around.
