I have got Garmin XT installed on my netbook. The prog launches fine. Prob is, it keeps looking for a Garmin bluetooth device and does not pick up my Holux bluetooth gps. Anyone has a solution or knows if i need to make any other settings? TIA

Brother, looks like you have installed a genuine GarminXT software on your device/notebook which will only work when pairing with proprietary Garmin BlueTooth receivers (e.g. GPS 10x which is discontinued). JC

If you have downloaded it from Garmin's WEB site it will need a Garmin Bluetooth to connect. To let it connect to other Bluetooth GPS receiver you'll need to buy a Garmin XT SD card, but this product is also obsoleted... Try Google to see any sellers with old stock.

thks for the responses. guess i will give up trying to get it to work with my holux gps - it was just a fun project anyway. the latest mfm maps work so i can still use it for browsing.

for actual big screen navigation, i can still fall back on my ipad with papago although i hate the synthetic voice and the repetitive "......pleeeaaase......" (if u hv papago, u know what i mean)!

Why do people recommend a mobile version for a laptop on Windows? I got a Win netbook, too, and I'd like to get some good free or cheap GPS software, but I thought about choosing from desktop versions, not mobile...

Unless you lappy/PC has a built in GPS hardware to support the navigational software, you will need the external option GPS :-'
