My ASEAN Free GPS Map Project

Has any one tried this, I hv downloaded and tried. Its real time, with many user in Malaysia. It need data packet enable smart phone, but can be use once all map downloaded via wifi at any location around the world.

Only slight problem is that, this program is from Israel, and some people may not agree with it. Political and religious issue aside, I feel this is one of the most brilliant program ever to hit the smart phones as far as Navigation is concern.

Actually this software can give Papago, Garmin and the rest a run for their money.

Tried it for the last 1 week, this program let you edit map real time. On PC by logging to your account on their web url. You are allow to edit area 1km from where ever you have drive.

Cool features and this is one way for any one trying their hand at mapping the easy way.

I go to see their live maps at the website. Many area is blank and no road. I think sygic & the other software is better than this gps software.

however have you tried it. It has chat, report function that will divert traffic if there is a traffic jam in your route as reported by other user or it can automatically reported via 3G.

The map is depend on user contribution and it will grow as you use just like malfreemaps/malsing few years back. The beauty here is that you are able to plot there and then with your mobile phones (no special logger needed, not even a Nuvi) and report send track/report at anytime you feels like it. This way, the map will grow very fast because it will not depend on mappers to do it after compiling the data.

It will also allow you to report any problem with the map as you use it live.

I have never seen such a software before, I am hoping Google would hv done it, but I guess this Waze team beat every one to it.

Imagine, this software and map is free worldwide and I travel to few asean countries over this last few weeks and I can use it on the spot after download the map over wifi.

What do you think of the impact it will have on Garmin, Papago, Tom Tom and the rest... its scary for them.

This is a screen shots taken on their live map at 11:35pm 05 Feb 2012. All this user are live online and plotting and checking the base map via 3G, can you imagine how quick it will be corrected with all these user.

These is only small parf of KL.

Below is a simple tracklog that I did earlier today, which was uploaded to their website via 3G/Wifi and into my account as my tracklog. I am allow to edit within 1km from these log.

A lot has been done to malfree over the years until its difficult to get a fresh place to plot. This software open up the fun all over again. The editor will allow you to even mark POI.

Try this software. The feature is good. Only thing is lack of POI. Imagine u want to go to KLCC, you don't know the address, how u key in to search?

Some POI available, just that its a bit different. during search it will use, Waze, Google and Bing and if any one of these has the POI location you will get it. If not do a map search.

Example below, I just arrive in Tawau earlier, from Airport I search for Belmont Marco Polo, Tawau and its there. KLCC should be better.



BTW, There are also other wazer in Tawau as in the snap shot. Its still new, it tie up with FourSquare as POI, and we know how good the user of FourSquare at reporting POI, very soon it will be full.

Feature that I like most, as soon as you done routing/tracking hit that "send log" it will use either 3g or wifi and instantly it will be updated into your account and displayed as below.



Then you can edit, the surrounding area or create some POI for it. Instant map editing at your finger tip, no need mapedit or anything.

Cloud base mapping is the way to go now, we has to evolve.., no more the old way... sooner or later the PND type map install will be obsolete. Its Mapping Community Payback Time

At the future i thinks this also is a good gps software.

This software also support Nokia Symbian Phone.

At the future hope this software also is free............
