Rona D'sara wrote:Why PAPAGO Z1 came with Thai key words....it is much better if it can be replace with writing recognition because for malaysian market we do not need the thai key words. furthermore we do not understand the thai language.

Hi Rona D'sara,

It has been a very hard time for us to sacrifice the handwriting input.

1) Handwriting input - able to write additional lower case Alphabets and traditional Chinese characters.
But however, maps provided do not support Chinese searching. Such as "PUDU", Chinese="半山芭". It is a total different pronunciation.
Even X8.5 or X9 nowadays do not support lower case letter example: Capital "A" = Lower "a". But users are still able to use Capital Letters, Symbols and also Numbers.

2) Chinese and lower case letter only able to be used inside Save to Favourites. Other than that, handwriting input is nothing more.

3) Whereas, Thai input also comes with displaying the whole Thailand map to Thai wording by changing the interface to Thai.

4) A lot of our customers went to Thailand by using our old PAPAGO! GPS. But somehow, most of the signboards, leaflets, names of places are in Thai. Whereas our Thailand map only was in English. A lot of the locals do not speak nor write in English. There were no translator even.

5) After the launch of X8.5 onwards. Most of the users when to Thailand with no doubts because support dual languages which are English and also Thai.

6) The debate : Whether sacrifice Save Favourites with additional lower case and traditional Chinese only OR sacrifice Thai input and interface whereas for Malaysians are not difficult to drive to Thailand with own transport. Even traveling without own transportation but taxi driver will know where you really want to go.

7) We tried to get both systems inside PAPAGO! software but unfortunately it will triggered an application error. In order to prevent this error again in the future. We have taken the step by taking out the handwriting input feature.

Nevertheless, we also hope that this is not the end of handwriting input.

Hope these clarified.

Hi,

I recently bought a car which has PaPaGo! X8.5.20 Build: Jan 30 2012(14:45:56) installed in the built-in OEM player (attached image).

My question is, would I be able to update the map version by myself? If yes, what are the steps involved?

Thanks.

What can I do on my end to restore the GPS or do I have to go down to the service centre?

Hi weewee,

Do you mind to PM me your contact number? I will have our Technical Team to call you for better understanding on the issue.

Thank you.

Thanks for the follow-up call from M3Asia Malaysia despite the fact that I'm from Singapore. Although there's nothing much the technical guy could help me over the phone, I still appreciate the effort for the call. I'll be dropping by M3Asia Singapore to have my GPS fixed on Monday. Thanks M3Asia!

Hi joechung,

Just download the map from here and extract to a folder, and then connect the SD Card to computer via card reader. Once you have connected the SD Card, look for MobileNavigator-> Maps and paste the extracted folder inside maps folder.

viewtopic.php?f=48&t=12811

The above is the latest download page.

For step by step guide, please follow the below:-

1) Insert your SD Card into you computer
2) Go to MobileNavigator->Maps
3) Backup all Folders inside Maps. (Just for backup purposes if something goes wrong during updating)

4) Download the map. (click the above link)
5) Extract the files to a Folder (eg. New MFM)
6) Copy the new extracted folder (eg. New MFM) to the SD Card->MobileNavigator->Maps

7) Insert the SD Card to your 2Din and start the Navigation.
8) If you need further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us at Hotline 1800 88 3303

Thank you very much.

Hi there,

Yes you are. But however, please confirm the software version is x8.5 or below.

If it is already x9. Then it is the most latest version.
