Bro Moey, you will understand and appreciate this phenomenon as you grow older and wiser. Trust me! :-'

Firstly, I must apologise for the misleading comments I have been making on MFM 2012.10 map. Today I found out what I did wrong to result in the problems I encountered - no Junction Views and no voice navigation. I had tried to run another corrupted .img file together with MFM 2012.10. When I removed the offending corrupted .img file, MFM 2012.10 ran extremely well. My apologies again. :prayer:

Hi Bros,
I am using MFM 2012.10 map on Nuvi 2575R. Every time when I parked my car in HDB MSCP next to Junction 8.
when I came out from MSCP. my GPS was unable to local the satellite signal until I drove to upper thomason road which was about 5 to 10 mins latter. May i know is it a map issue or I have a lemon GPS which required RMA?
:x

The Satellites receiving is the GPS unit function and the map has little or nothing to do with it. I'm not familiar with your location but if you are traveling around tall buildings you may have difficulty logging On. Try to go to some where else to test if this happens. Note that stoppage time (GPS Off time) also effect log on time. The longer you stop using your GPS the longer you need to wait for a log on.

Try this:
- Stop (OFF) your GPS when at home.
- Wait 10-15 mins.
- Turn On your GPS and start driving the route to see if it takes so long to Log On. If yes, and the environment is without tall buildings.. then go see Garmin.
- else... this is facts of life... you need to wait.

Hope this helps.... cheers!

As Bro Moey says, Nuvi will attempt to re-collect Satellite ephemeris data ( the position of each satellite in orbit ) and almanac data ( time and status of the entire satellite constellation ). These data is essential to compute your location. These data are stored in your GPS and continuously updated. It will expire if left unchanged after an extended period of time with GPS shut off. These data takes time to collect from the each satellite the GPS sees. So no problem with your GPS. It is performing its work.

Thank you SO much for your reply. I only parked there less than an hour. when I drove out of the Car Park. it has a clear sky. It always happened at that area (this is the third times already). not sure it is a blind spot of the sattellite. I will monitor it again. and if necessary. i will RMA :tq: it.

1. It depends whether your "clear sky" is like looking up from a manhole. If it is, the stat birds in the sky do not have direct sight of your GPSr. Thomson area is quite low rise, so the "clear sky" is more like looking when you are standing at an open field.

2. When you are moving why the GPSr is calculating the position, it will take a longer time to establish the correct link.

That side, 10 mins is a long time for this set exiting a carpark where it logged off. But 5 mins is still okay.

Hi Bros,
When I came out from Bishan MSCP. it was an open field. when I tap on the satelite option. I see no satelite detected at all. The GPSr is unable to secure the location at all. no calculation was started. only lost satelite display. I need to ON and OFF the unit at Thomson Road to reactive the 2575R.

Another encounter was driving Braddell Road (open sky) just pass Bishan, My GPSr lost satelite connection. It takes almost 24 hours to get it working again

The 3rd encoutered was also in Bishan MSCP. parked there for 2 hours. Came out with lost satelite @ 2 pm. GPSr was unable to local satilite until 11:20pm at Upper Thomson road. Have been tried different map. it was still the same. :fire:

No need to catch fire... :fire: ... Come to our NPM GG on 20th July and we will drown it with plenty of Beer... In the mean time send your 2575 to the M3Gps hospital...

p/s: Is your car window's tint metallic based? If yes, you will loose substantial signal strength.
