Re: Activating hidden tracklog function in Nuvi 2xx
Having recommended not using Webupdater, I now realise that Garmin has stopped offering firmwares for manual updates and is forcing us to use their Webupdater. Should I need to update, I would scour all the forums to see if somebody has managed to save the file for manual update. If that is not available, I would take steps to minimise update failure in using Webupdater by for example checking the USB cable and connection and definitely not use WiFi to do the updating.

Re: Activating hidden tracklog function in Nuvi 2xx
correct me if I'm wrong, webupdater only transfer the file to the GPSr, the actual update of the firmware actually happen after rebooting the GPSr. This is based on the messages on screen upon reboot after "update" using webupdater, those messages such as "the new software is older than currently installed", "updating software....XX%".
So I guess if for any reasons the webupdater fails to "update" the firmware like what happen to me yesterday, a RESET to the GPSr should bring you back to the "pre-update" configuration.
But I might be wrong in my observations wrt updating through wepupdater.

Re: Activating hidden tracklog function in Nuvi 2xx
As encouragement for those brothers who are still hesitating to patch their Nuvis, let us do a head-count of those who have successfully activated their hidden tracklog function. While most of the successful ones have been Nuvi 200's and 200W's, the author of the patch actually wrote it for Nuvi 200, 250, 260, 270 etc., and their wide-screen variants. Please add your name to the list if you have not reported your success.

Try installing the USB drivers I posted on page 9: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1151&start=80 It actually covers all models of Garmin GPS. You can also download the same from the Garmin website:

The following Tech Support page on the Garmin website may be helpful too:
